Auditory Sensitivity in the Tadpole (Rana catesbeiana)

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1973
Auditory sensitivity in six bullfrog tadpoles was investigated by electrophysiological techniques. Tonal stimulus intensities that generated a standard potential of 0.1 μV in the inner ear showed a hearing range from 100 to 4000 Hz with maximum sensitivity near 1 dyn/cm2 (0.1 N/m2) in the lower portion of the range.

Auditory Sensitivity in the Rana catesbeiana Tadpole

Journal of Herpetology, 1973
Auditory sensitivity in 6 bullfrog tadpoles (Rana catesbeiana) was investi- gated electrophysiologically. Tonal stimulus intensities that elicited a standard sensory potential of 0.1 ,v in the inner ear showed a response range from 100 Hz to 4000 Hz with maximum sensitivity near one dyne/cm2 (0.1 N/m2) in the lower portion of the range.

Tympanic sound radiation in the bullfrog Rana catesbeiana

Journal of Comparative Physiology A: Sensory, Neural, and Behavioral Physiology, 1997
Members of the Rana catesbeiana clade display sexually dimorphic eardrums. In this species assemblage the eardrum of males can be 50% larger than in females of the same body size. There has been, however, no apparent functional explanation for this dimorphism.

Dye-coupling among frog (Rana catesbeiana) taste disk cells

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Physiology, 1992
1. Dye-coupling among taste disk cells in the bullfrog fungiform papillae was examined histologically by injecting a fluorescent dye (Lucifer yellow) into the cell, and the effects of the dye-coupling on depolarizing responses induced by taste stimuli were studied electrophysiologically. 2.

Purification and properties of serum albumin from Rana catesbeiana

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure, 1972
Abstract Serum albumin was purified from the plasma of the bullfrog, Rana catesbeiana , by a combination of Sephadex G-200 and DEAE-cellulose column chromatography, and isoelectric focusing fractionation. The purified albumin was judged to be homogeneous by several criteria: acrylamide disc and cellulose acetate electrophoresis, immunological ...

Rana catesbeiana tail fin lactogenic hormone receptor: hydrodynamic characterization

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1983
The hydrodynamic properties of the 125I-hGH-receptor-detergent complex of the tadpole tail fin were determined. Based on the distribution coefficient from chromatography on Sepharose 6B the Stokes' radius of the complex was 5.03 nm. Using centrifugation through sucrose/H2O and sucrose/2H2O gradients the complex was determined to have a sedimentation ...
