Fast Generation of Sparse Random Kernel Graphs. [PDF]
The development of kernel-based inhomogeneous random graphs has provided models that are flexible enough to capture many observed characteristics of real networks, and that are also mathematically tractable.

The Music Box Operad: Random Generation of Musical Phrases from Patterns
We introduce the notion of multi-pattern, a combinatorial abstraction of polyphonic musical phrases. The interest of this approach to encode musical phrases lies in the fact that it becomes possible to compose multi-patterns in order to produce new ones.

Enumeration and Random Generation of Concurrent Computations [PDF]
In this paper, we study the shuffle operator on concurrent processes (represented as trees) using analytic combinatorics tools. As a first result, we show that the mean width of shuffle trees is exponentially smaller than the worst case upper-bound.

On the Construction of Random Number Generators and Random Function Generators [PDF]
Blum, Micali (1982), Yao (1982), Goldreich, Goldwasser and Micali (1984), and Luby, Rackoff (1986) have constructed random number generators, random function generators and random permutation generators that are perfect if certain complexity assumptions hold.

Generating connected random graphs [PDF]
AbstractSampling random graphs is essential in many applications, and often algorithms use Markov chain Monte Carlo methods to sample uniformly from the space of graphs. However, often there is a need to sample graphs with some property that we are unable, or it is too inefficient, to sample using standard approaches. In this article, we are interested

ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

On hysteresis based random number generation
A new hysteresis-based technique for random number generation is presented which can be efficiently implemented by using modern spintronics based nano-technology.

Generalizing Parking Functions with Randomness
Consider $n$ cars $C_1, C_2, \ldots, C_n$ that want to park in a parking lot with parking spaces $1,2,\ldots,n$ that appear in order. Each car $C_i$ has a parking preference $\alpha_i \in \{1,2,\ldots,n\}$. The cars appear in order, if their preferred parking spot is not taken, they take it, if the parking spot is taken, they move forward until they ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
