Random-wavelength solid-state laser
Optics Letters, 2004The spectral properties of a diode-pumped Yb:Y2O3 ceramic laser are reported. We show experimentally that the instantaneous emission wavelengths of the laser change randomly with time, whereas its emission has fixed well-defined transverse modes. The central wavelength of the laser emission also shifts prominently with the increase of intracavity light

Amplified Extended Modes in Random Lasers
Physical Review Letters, 2004We report on a new random laser phenomenon that gives rise to narrow emission modes without requiring optical cavities. Sharp emission peaks are observed experimentally over a broad range of scattering strengths and analyzed in numerical calculations.

Chaotic Behavior of Random Lasers
2010Light transport in disordered systems can be described as a multiple scattering process in which light waves are multiply scattered by random variations of the refractive index of the material. This has close analogies with other transport phenomena, such as electrons in a conducting material, sounds waves in random structures, and even matter waves. A

We demonstrate two-threshold random laser emission in the mixtures of GaAs powder with Al2O3 powder. The dilution of GaAs powder with Al2O3 powder helps to maximize the output efficiency of the stimulated emission.

Beta factor in a random laser.
Physical review. E, Statistical, nonlinear, and soft matter physics, 2002We develop a definition for the beta factor, the fraction of spontaneous emission that seeds the laser process, for a random laser. With the wavelength-dependence of the gain (and potentially scattering) being the only possible criterion in the competition between gain and loss, our concept of beta is based on the spectral properties of the spontaneous
