Amplified Extended Modes in Random Lasers
Physical Review Letters, 2004We report on a new random laser phenomenon that gives rise to narrow emission modes without requiring optical cavities. Sharp emission peaks are observed experimentally over a broad range of scattering strengths and analyzed in numerical calculations.

We demonstrate two-threshold random laser emission in the mixtures of GaAs powder with Al2O3 powder. The dilution of GaAs powder with Al2O3 powder helps to maximize the output efficiency of the stimulated emission.

Beta factor in a random laser.
Physical review. E, Statistical, nonlinear, and soft matter physics, 2002We develop a definition for the beta factor, the fraction of spontaneous emission that seeds the laser process, for a random laser. With the wavelength-dependence of the gain (and potentially scattering) being the only possible criterion in the competition between gain and loss, our concept of beta is based on the spectral properties of the spontaneous

The random distributed feedback (RDFB) fibre laser that provides stable, spatially incoherent continuous-wave lasing has been proved. It generates the distributed feedback fibre cavity which is formed by the Rayleigh backscattering in the fibre, and its gain is achieved by Raman amplification when the pump light enters into fibre, and its efficiency ...

The purpose of this chapter is to introduce the concept of a random laser and show how strongly the properties of random lasers depend on the strength of light scattering in a gain medium. Random lasers, theoretically predicted forty years ago and experimentally demonstrated more than twenty years ago, have developed into a large area of research.
