Negative differential mobility of weakly driven particles in models of glass formers [PDF]
We study the response of probe particles to weak constant driving in kinetically constrained models of glassy systems, and show that the probe's response can be non-monotonic and give rise to negative differential mobility: increasing the applied force can reduce the probe's drift velocity in the force direction.

An Algebraic Approach for Evaluating Random Probing Security With Application to AES
We employ an algebraic approach to estimate the success rate of a sidechannel adversary attacking secrets of a masked circuit within the Random Probing Model (RPM), where intermediate variables of the implementation leak with a probability p. Our method

Information-Theoretic Probing with Minimum Description Length [PDF]
To measure how well pretrained representations encode some linguistic property, it is common to use accuracy of a probe, i.e. a classifier trained to predict the property from the representations. Despite widespread adoption of probes, differences in their accuracy fail to adequately reflect differences in representations.

Implications of Annotation Artifacts in Edge Probing Test Datasets [PDF]
Edge probing tests are classification tasks that test for grammatical knowledge encoded in token representations coming from contextual encoders such as large language models (LLMs). Many LLM encoders have shown high performance in EP tests, leading to conjectures about their ability to encode linguistic knowledge.

Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

Clinical effectiveness of aloe vera gel as an adjunct to mechanical debridement in patients with periodontitis: A systematic review and meta-analysis [PDF]
Background. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical effect of aloe vera gel as an adjunct to scaling and root planing (SRP) on plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), and probing pocket depth (PPD) in periodontitis treatment. Methods.
