Performance Modeling of Cloud Systems by an Infinite-Server Queue Operating in Rarely Changing Random Environment

open access: yesFuture Internet
This paper considers a heterogeneous queuing system with an unlimited number of servers, where the parameters are determined by a random environment. A distinctive feature is that the parameters of the exponential distribution of the request processing ...

The Applicability of Standard Error of Measurement and Minimal Detectable Change to Motor Learning Research—A Behavioral Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2018
Motor learning studies face the challenge of differentiating between real changes in performance and random measurement error. While the traditional p-value-based analyses of difference (e.g., t-tests, ANOVAs) provide information on the statistical ...

Random time change and recurrent boundary

open access: yesStochastic Processes and their Applications, 1980
AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to study some properties of random time changes in recurrent potential theory. In particular we show that the Martin recurrent boundary is not invariant under a random time change. We then obtain a characterization of random time change destroying a boundary point.

Does Our English Teacher Education Need Re-Designing?

open access: yesTEFLIN Journal, 2003
Change has been regarded as inherent in any living organization for quite a long time, for its own development and to keep up its external relevance as part of the development.

Sub-diffusion in External Potential: Anomalous hiding behind Normal

open access: yes, 2014
We propose a model of sub-diffusion in which an external force is acting on a particle at all times not only at the moment of jump. The implication of this assumption is the dependence of the random trapping time on the force with the dramatic change of ...

The Randomized First-Hitting Problem of Continuously Time-Changed Brownian Motion [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics, 2018
Let X ( t ) be a continuously time-changed Brownian motion starting from a random position η , S ( t ) a given continuous, increasing boundary, with S ( 0 ) ≥ 0 , P ( η ≥ S ( 0 ) ) = 1 , and F an assigned distribution function.

Univariate and multivariate imputation methods evaluation for reconstructing climate time series data: A case study of Mosul station-Iraq

open access: yesJournal of Agrometeorology
Comprehensive climate time series data is indispensable for monitoring the impacts of climate change. However, observational datasets often suffer from data gaps within their time series, necessitating imputation to ensure dataset integrity for further ...

Time Series Analysis of Land Cover Change: Developing Statistical Tools to Determine Significance of Land Cover Changes in Persistence Analyses

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2014
Despite the existence of long term remotely sensed datasets, change detection methods are limited and often remain an obstacle to the effective use of time series approaches in remote sensing applications to Land Change Science.

Recursive Estimation in Capture-Recapture Methods

open access: yesSultan Qaboos University Journal for Science, 1998
An important problem in statistical ecology is how to determine the size of an animal population. The best known technique is the capture-recapture technique.

Vibration response analysis of footbridge based on pedestrian perception

open access: yesAdvances in Bridge Engineering, 2023
This article aims to study the influence of random crowd loading on the perceived vibration response of pedestrians. Firstly, a vertical vibration response analysis method considering pedestrian perception was established based on the random crowd ...
