Sustainable Hydrogen Production, a Review of Methods, Types, Applications, Challenges, and Future Perspectives

open access: yesGlobal Challenges, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract illustrates sustainable hydrogen production methods integrating solar, wind, and biomass sources. It highlights electrolysis as the central green hydrogen pathway and contrasts renewable and industrial uses. Color‐coded hydrogen types depict the diversity in production technologies, emphasizing clean energy transitions and ...

Biodegradation, mechanical and biocompatibility evaluation of compact and porous polylactic acid after long‐term dynamic fluid immersion

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Polylactic acid (PLA) is the most widely used thermoplastic in applications in the benefit of humans, such as biomedicine and food packaging. However, its behaviour when operating in relevant environments has not been fully investigated.

Nutrient limitation dampens the response of a harmful algae to a marine heatwave in an upwelling system

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Harmful algal blooms caused by toxin‐producing species of the diatom genus Pseudo‐nitzschia have been linked to anomalously warm ocean conditions in the Northern California Current System. This study compares summertime concentrations of Pseudo‐nitzschia spp.

Bloom compression alongside marine heatwaves contemporary with the Oregon upwelling season

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Marine heatwave (MHW) events have led to acute decreases in primary production and phytoplankton biomass in the surface ocean, particularly at the mid latitudes. In the Northeast Pacific, these anomalous events have occasionally encroached onto the Oregon shelf during the ecologically important summer upwelling season.

Autonomous observations enhance our ability to observe the biological carbon pump across diverse carbon export regimes

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract The expansion of autonomous observation platforms offers vast opportunities for analyzing ocean ecosystems and their role in carbon export. As part of the EXport Processes in the Ocean from RemoTe Sensing campaign, we autonomously measured the productivity regimes in two contrasting end‐member ecosystem states.

Dynamics of Dissipative Cavity Solitons in a Lattice Trap

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This work presents a generalized analytical model elucidating the dynamics of dissipative solitons in dual‐frequency‐pumped Kerr‐nonlinear cavities. The unified framework predicts new phenomena and expounds hitherto unexplained experiments covering hysteresis, Arnold tongues, and existence region of all‐optical dissipative time crystals.

Illuminating the property space in crystal structure prediction using Quality-Diversity algorithms [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The identification of materials with exceptional properties is an essential objective to enable technological progress. We propose the application of \textit{Quality-Diversity} algorithms to the field of crystal structure prediction. The objective of these algorithms is to identify a diverse set of high-performing solutions, which has been successful ...
