Kevlar/Basalt and Kevlar/Glass Intra‐Ply Reinforced Hybrid Composites: Influence of Basket Weave Fabric Structure on Thermal Properties, Flammability, and Impact Performance

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This research explores the effect of basket weave fabric structure and fiber combinations in hybrid composites, focusing on impact resistance, thermal stability, and flammability. The findings demonstrate that Kevlar‐glass laminates offer superior thermal stability and impact strength compared to Kevlar‐basalt laminates.

Lunar Power Grid: Network Structure and Spontaneous Synchronization [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Achieving stable synchronized operation in an alternating current power network is critical to the continuity and reliability of energy delivery. In this paper, we study a dynamic model for synchronization in the proposed power network which the National Aeronautic and Space Agency plans to build on the lunar surface to support continuous human ...

NExT‐LF: A Novel Operational Modal Analysis Method via Tangential Interpolation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Operational modal analysis (OMA) is vital for identifying modal parameters under real‐world conditions, yet existing methods often face challenges with noise sensitivity and stability. This study introduces NExT‐LF, a novel method that combines the well‐known Natural Excitation Technique (NExT) with the Loewner Framework (LF). NExT enables the

Uncertainty Quantification for Nonlinear Vibration of Supercritical Drive Shaft With a Dry Friction Damper

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The supercritical drive shaft is becoming increasingly popular in helicopter transmission system. Dry friction dampers are specially employed to ensure the supercritical shafts crossing the critical speed safely. Due to design tolerances, manufacturing errors and time‐varying factors, the parameters of the damper are inherently uncertain ...

Mission Abort Policy Considering Imperfect Alarms and Two Abort Options

open access: yesNaval Research Logistics (NRL), EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A mission may be aborted during operation to increase the likelihood of system survival when an alarm system indicates that the system has entered a defect state. However, due to measurement and environmental noise, missed and false alarms frequently occur during online condition monitoring, complicating the decision‐making process for mission
