TOF range image sensor using a range-shift technique
2008 IEEE Sensors, 2008In time-of-flight (TOF) range image sensors using periodical pulsed light, there is a trade-off between the maximum range and range resolution. This paper proposes a technique for improving range resolution of the TOF range image sensor using range shifting.

Range shift promotes the formation of stable range edges
Journal of Biogeography, 2011AbstractAim I investigate the counter‐intuitive possibility that range shift promotes the formation of stable range edges. This might be expected because: (1) range‐shifting populations typically evolve increased dispersal on the expanding range edge; (2) increased dispersal steepens the relative slope of environmental gradients (gradients appear ...

On the asymptotic range of cocyles for shifts of finite type
Ergodic Theory and Dynamical Systems, 1993AbstractWe study the problem of lifting ergodicity to certain skew-product extensions over shifts of finite type. This can be done by computing the asymptotic range of the defining cocycle. For a class of ergodic shift-invariant measures and a class of functions (defining conservative extensions) we give a characterization of ergodicity in terms of ...

On the long-range hyperfine shift in HeH
Journal of Physics B: Atomic and Molecular Physics, 1973The leading term in the asymptotic expansion of the hyperfine shift in HeH has been computed with the result Delta a(R)/a( infinity )=11.361+1.901)R-6.

Frequency-shift device for the optical range
Soviet Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1977A device is proposed for shifting the frequency in the optical range by electrooptic modulation of the phase of the radiation in accordance with a periodic sawtooth law in a lithium metaniobate crystal. The dependence of the spectral composition of the output radiation on the parameters of the modulating signal is determined.

Evolutionary consequences of climate‐induced range shifts in insects
Biological Reviews, 2015ABSTRACTRange shifts can rapidly create new areas of geographic overlap between formerly allopatric taxa and evidence is accumulating that this can affect species persistence. We review the emerging literature on the short‐ and long‐term consequences of these geographic range shifts.
