Efficient AUC Optimization for Information Ranking Applications

open access: yes, 2016
Adequate evaluation of an information retrieval system to estimate future performance is a crucial task. Area under the ROC curve (AUC) is widely used to evaluate the generalization of a retrieval system. However, the objective function optimized in many

NR4A1 Exerts Pro‐Tumor Role in Glioblastoma via Inducing xCT/GPX4‐Regulated Ferroptosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose This study investigates NR4A1's paradoxical roles in glioblastoma (GBM) progression, focusing on its mechanistic link to ferroptosis regulation. We aimed to resolve conflicting reports of NR4A1 as both an oncogene and a tumor suppressor by defining its transcriptional control over xCT/GPX4‐mediated iron homeostasis and its clinical ...

Lesion Location and Functional Connections Reveal Cognitive Impairment Networks in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cognitive impairment, fatigue, and depression are common in multiple sclerosis (MS), potentially due to disruption of regional functional connectivity caused by white matter (WM) lesions. We explored whether WM lesions functionally connected to specific brain regions contribute to these MS‐related manifestations.

Evaluation Criteria of Information Retrieval Systems: What We Know and What We Do Not Know

open access: yesIranian Journal of Information Processing & Management, 2014
Evaluation of information retrieval systems is one of the greatest challenges for information science specialists, because determining the performance of a system depends on judgment of the relevance of documents provided by the system to the user's ...

Learning a Deep Listwise Context Model for Ranking Refinement

open access: yes, 2018
Learning to rank has been intensively studied and widely applied in information retrieval. Typically, a global ranking function is learned from a set of labeled data, which can achieve good performance on average but may be suboptimal for individual ...

Association of Elevated Serum S100A8/A9 Levels and Cognitive Impairment in Patients With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Cognitive impairment (CI) is common in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Despite its prevalence, the immune mechanisms are not well understood. We previously reported elevated serum levels of S100A8/A9 and matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP‐9) in patients with SLE and CI.

RRP9 Promotes Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma Progression through E2F1 Transcriptional Regulation of CDK1

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The study reveals that RRP9 is abnormally highly expressed in ESCC tissues and is closely associated with poor prognosis in patients. Furthermore, it is found that RRP9 promotes ESCC progression through enhancing the E2F1‐mediated transcriptional regulation of CDK1.

Extracting Emotion Causes Using Learning to Rank Methods From an Information Retrieval Perspective

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Emotion cause extraction is a challenging task for the fine-grained emotion analysis. Even though a few studies have addressed the task using clause-level classification methods, most of them have partly ignored emotion-level context information.
