Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Time Domain Analysis of the Ventilation around the Partial Immersed Propeller Using Sliding Mesh Method

open access: yesInternational Journal of Maritime Technology, 2017
In this paper a computational method is presented for predicting the unsteady hydrodynamic forces acting on partial immersed propeller (SPP). In order to simulate the unsteady viscous flow around a SPP, a Reynolds-Averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) solver is ...

Numerical Simulation of the Flow around NACA0018 Airfoil at High Incidences by Using RANS and DES Methods

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
In this work, the flow around the NACA0018 airfoil with a wide range of attack angles was investigated based on the open-source computational fluid dynamics (CFD) platform OpenFOAM.

S-adenosyl-L-methionine: (S)-scoulerine 9-O-methyltransferase, a highly stereo- and regio-specific enzyme in tetrahydroprotoberberine biosynthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Suspension cultures of Berberis species are useful sources for the detection and isolation of a new enzyme which transfers the methyl group from S-adenosyl-L-methionine specifically to the 9-position of the (S)-enantiomer of scoulerine, producing (S ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Numerical Analysis of Marine Propulsor Using Coupled BEMT/RANS Method

open access: yesنشریه مهندسی دریا, 2017
Hydrodynamic analysis of the marine propulsors with complex geometry such as podded drive systems, ducted propellers, and waterjet systems are more complicated than conventional propeller systems.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Space-time discontinuous Galerkin method for the numerical simulation of viscous compressible gas flow with the k-omega turbulence model

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
In this article we deal with the numerical simulation of the non-stationary compressible turbulent flow described by the Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations. This RANS system is equipped with two-equation k-omega turbulence model.

A numerical study on hydrodynamic maneuvering derivatives for heave-pitch coupling motion of a ray-type underwater glider

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2020
We used a numerical method to estimate the hydrodynamic maneuvering derivatives for the heave-pitch coupling motion of an underwater glider. It is very important to assess the hydrodynamic maneuvering characteristics of a specific hull form of an ...

Development of Three-Dimensional LES Based Meshless Model of Continuous Casting of Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2022
A large-eddy simulation (LES) based meshless model is developed for the three-dimensional (3D) problem of continuous casting (CC) of steel billet. The local collocation meshless method based on radial basis functions (RBF) is applied in 3D.
