Evaluating Fishing Ban Effectiveness Through Spatiotemporal Changes in Genetic Diversity of Parabramis pekinensis

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Based on spatiotemporal changes in the genetic diversity of Parabramis pekinensis populations in the lower Yangtze River (2022–2024), this study provides pioneering evidence that the 10‐year fishing ban has not only significantly enhanced genetic diversity but also effectively mitigated geographical barriers, thereby strengthening gene flow ...

Population Genomics Informs Conservation Strategies for Critically Endangered Kokia Species in Hawaiʻi

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Once a common feature of the xeric‐mesic habitats of the Hawaiian Islands, trees from the genus Kokia have undergone severe human‐driven population reductions, with island‐specific pressures resulting in different outcomes for each single island endemic species.

DNA profiling among egg and beef meat isolates of Escherichia coli by enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus-PCR (ERIC-PCR) and random amplified polymorphic DNA-PCR (RAPD-PCR) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Forty three (n=43) genomic DNA of Escherichia coli (11 isolates from eggs and 32 isolates from imported beef meats) were characterized by shiga toxin 1 (stx1), enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus-PCR (ERIC-PCR) and random amplified ...

Genetic Diversity, Population Structure, and Demographic History of Anadromous Hilsa Shad (Tenualosa ilisha) Across Diverse Geographical Regions: A Comparative Study Between Bangladesh and Iraq

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
To investigate genetic diversity, population structure and demographic history of the anadromous fish Hilsa shad (Tenualosa ilisha), fish collected from two populations of Iraq and seven populations of Bangladesh were subjected to the mitochondrial DNA COI and CYTB marker analysis.

Evaluation of different DNA-based fingerprinting methods for typing Photobacterium damselae ssp. piscicida

open access: yesBiological Research, 2007
This study evaluates the effectiveness of three different molecular techniques, repetitive extragenic palindromic PCR (REP-PCR), enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus sequence PCR (ERIC-PCR) and the random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD-PCR ...

Identification and phylogenetic analysis of Lactobacillus using multiplex RAPD-PCR [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 2006
Multiplex RAPD-PCR was used to generate unique and identifying DNA profiles for isolates of the genus Lactobacillus. The method that was used was based on the combination of two 10-mer oligonucleotides in a single PCR. The generated RAPD profiles enabled discrimination of all lactobacillus strains that were used in this study.

Comparison of Pomological and iPBS Marker‐Based Genetic Characteristics of Some Jackfruit Types From Bangladesh: Identification of Promising Fruit Types

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
In this research work, we categorized 73 accessions of jackfruit genotypes into four major fruit types named “Gala”, “Khaja”, “Rosha”, and “Improved Gala” based on 18 fruit morphometric traits randomly selected from around 500 trees of the DIU campus.

Genetic variation and relationships of Zea mays and Sorghum species using RAPD-PCR and SDS-PAGE of seed proteins

open access: yes, 2013
Genetic relationship between some species of Zea mays and Sorghum was determined using sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) of seed protein and random amplification of polymorphic DNA (RAPD-PCR) markers.
