A Study of Combustion Characteristics of Two Gasoline–Biodiesel Mixtures on RCEM Using Various Fuel Injection Pressures

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Experimental research was conducted on a rapid compression and expansion machine (RCEM) that has characteristics similar to a gasoline compression ignition (GCI) engine, using two gasoline–biodiesel (GB) blends—10% and 20% volume—with fuel injection ...

Development of the ignition delay prediction model of n-butane/hydrogen mixtures based on artificial neural network

open access: yesEnergy and AI, 2020
Based on the experimental ignition delay results of n-butane/hydrogen mixtures in a rapid compression machine, a Genetic Algorithm (GA) optimized Back Propagation (BP) neural network model is originally developed for ignition delay prediction.

Rheocasting versus Die Casting: An Insight into the Low‐Cycle Fatigue Behavior of AlSi7Mg0.6

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study compares rheocast lightweight components with high‐pressure die cast materials regarding microstructure and fatigue behavior. Rheocast process offers higher efficiency due to lower casting temperatures. Despite some microstructural differences, both processes show similar strengths (yield strength 125 MPa, tensile strength 240 MPa).

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...
