Real-time detection of rapid moving infrared target on variation background

Infrared Physics & Technology, 2008
For the condition where monitor point and target move rapidly simultaneously, a real-time target detection algorithm is proposed in this paper. The algorithm is based on a region theory which fuses four region algorithms, i.e., region of interest (ROI) algorithm, region enhancement algorithm, region growing algorithm and sequence image interframe ...

GIC drivers - the Characteristics of Storm-time Rapid Geomagnetic Variations

2020
<p>Rapid storm-time geomagnetic disturbances, typically at sub-auroral latitudes, have been recognized as one of the most detrimental space weather phenomena, potentially leading to damage to and outage of critical power infrastructure.

The effect of variations in total sleep time on the occurrence of rapid eye movement sleep in cats

Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, 1967
Abstract Cats with chronically implanted electrodes were maintained on rigidly enforced schedules of daily total sleep time, each schedule lasting from 5 to 19 consecutive days. The percentage of REM sleep was highest when daily total sleep time was smallest.

Variation of the Radiosensitizing Efficiency of RSU-1069 with Pre-irradiation Contact Times: A Rapid Mix Study

International Journal of Radiation Biology and Related Studies in Physics, Chemistry and Medicine, 1987
Using a cellular fast-mixing technique, the time course of radiation sensitization of hypoxic, V79 cells by various concentrations of RSU-1069 (0.25-2.5 mmol dm-3) and misonidazole (2.5-50 mmol dm-3) have been studied to distinguish between fast chemical processes and the much slower biochemical responses to ionizing radiation and the monofunctional ...

A predictor-based decision feedback channel estimation method for COFDM with high resilience to rapid time-variations

Gateway to 21st Century Communications Village. VTC 1999-Fall. IEEE VTS 50th Vehicular Technology Conference (Cat. No.99CH36324), 1999
This paper investigates the performance of a coherent COFDM system in the presence of a time-varying frequency-selective fading channel using a predictor-based channel estimator. The channel estimation method is based on a decision-directed adaptive technique that uses decisions at the output of either the detector (uncoded mode) or the decoder (coded ...

Improved Time‐History Analysis for Structural Dynamics. I: Treatment of Rapid Variation of Excitation and Material Nonlinearity

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1993
Methods are studied that permit larger time intervals to be used in structural dynamics calculations than are possible by the usual techniques. The size of time interval is often restricted by the rapidity of variation in excitation or by yielding and unloading in the structural members.

An improved channel inversion based adaptive OFDM system in the presence of channel errors and rapid time variations

Vehicular Technology Conference Fall 2000. IEEE VTS Fall VTC2000. 52nd Vehicular Technology Conference (Cat. No.00CH37152), 2002
The use of channel inversion for adaptive pre-equalised OFDM-based systems has been introduced by Keller and Hanzo (see Proceedings of VTC'99 falls, p.334-38, 1999) and was shown to be very sensitive to time variations and power clipping at the transmitter.

Optical coherence tomography as a noninvasive 3D real time imaging tool for the rapid evaluation of phenotypic variations in insect embryonic development

Journal of Biophotonics, 2019
AbstractNoninvasive visualization of embryos at different development stages is crucial for the understanding of the basic developmental biology. It is therefore desirable to have an imaging tool capable of rapidly evaluating the effects of gene manipulation or genome editing in developing embryos for the studies of gene functions and genetic ...

Plasma ionic regulation and gill Na+/K+‐ATPase changes during rapid transfer to sea water of yearling rainbow trout, Salmo gairdneri: time course and seasonal variation

Journal of Fish Biology, 1989
Danish rainbow trout, Salmo gairdneri Richardson, (40–65 g) were transferred to 28%o sea water at intervals throughout the early spring and summer. Gill Na+/K+‐ATPase of fish kept in fresh water surged distinctly during May. Simultaneously, a body silvering occurred and plasma concentrations of Cl−, Na+ and total thyroxine (T4) decreased.

UNET-FLIM: A Deep Learning-Based Lifetime Determination Method Facilitating Real-Time Monitoring of Rapid Lysosomal pH Variations in Living Cells

Analytical Chemistry
Lifetime determination plays a crucial role in fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM). We introduce UNET-FLIM, a deep learning architecture based on a one-dimensional U-net, specifically designed for lifetime determination. UNET-FLIM focuses on handling low photon count data with high background noise levels, which are commonly encountered in ...
