Chlamydiosis in Captive Raptors

Avian Diseases, 1990
Chlamydia psittaci was isolated from four red-tailed hawks (Buteo jamaicensis) that died suddenly and from seven birds that survived at a raptor rehabilitation center in California in 1983. One hundred captive raptors representing 14 species in five families were subsequently tested serologically and by direct cloacal culture. C.

Care of the Geriatric Raptor

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Exotic Animal Practice, 2020
Despite falconry having been practiced for centuries and with a wealth of published material on the husbandry of captive raptors over that period, there is a paucity of published material on the care of the geriatric raptor. Raptors are often a long-lived species and can suffer a range of age-related conditions that may impact on their welfare.

Emergency Care of Raptors

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Exotic Animal Practice, 2007
Raptors may present with a variety of conditions, such as trauma, debilitation, and disease, that necessitate emergency care. Emergency treatment should prioritize stabilization of the patient. Diagnostic testing should be delayed until feasible based on patient status.

Raptor

Proceedings of the International Academic Conference on the Future of Game Design and Technology, 2010
Game sketching is used to identify enjoyable designs for digital games without the expense of fully implementing them. We present Raptor, a novel tool for sketching games. Raptor shows how table-top interaction can effectively support the ideation phase of game design by enabling collaboration in the design and testing process. Raptor heavily relies on

Introduction to Monitoring for and with Raptors

AMBIO: A Journal of the Human Environment, 2008

The development of Raptor codes

2008 IEEE Information Theory Workshop, 2008
Summary form only given. This talk describes the development of various versions of Raptor codes starting from the first one developed at the end of 2000 to the more advanced versions that are being used in many commercial systems today. We will focus on practical aspects and how these have pushed the theoretical frontiers.

Raptors as Victims and Ambassadors: Raptor Rehabilitation, Education, and Outreach

2018
From hunting songbirds at backyard feeders to circling in awe-inspiring loops above a city park, raptors make their presence known in urban environments. As raptors increasingly inhabit urbanized areas, they not only become more visible to people but encounter new opportunities and challenges (see chapter 14).

Emergency Care of Raptors

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Exotic Animal Practice, 1998
Emergency care of raptors often requires extensive diagnostics and therapeutic regimens to stabilize and support the ill or injured raptor. Whether falconry birds, educational birds, or raptors from the wild are presented, various medical conditions must be addressed to help guide the practitioner toward a complete recovery for the raptor.
