Sandwich complexes of naphthalocyanine with the rare earth metals

open access: yes, 2003
Over the past two decades and in particular the past five years, numerous sandwich-type rare earth complexes containing naphthalocyanine ligands have been synthesized. The more extended delocalized π-electron system of naphthalocyanine in comparison with

LEAD: Literature Enhanced Ab Initio Discovery of Nitride Dusting Layers for Enhanced Tunnel Magnetoresistance and Lower Resistance Magnetic Tunnel Junctions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) using MgO tunnel barriers face challenges of high resistance‐area product and low tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). To discover alternative materials, Literature Enhanced Ab initio Discovery (LEAD) is developed. The LEAD‐predicted materials are theoretically evaluated, showing that MTJs with dusting of ScN or TiN on ...

Rare-earth occurrences in the Pea Ridge tailings [PDF]

open access: yes
"Tailings from the Pea Ridge iron mine contain significant amounts of apatite, which has rare-earth element values associated with it. In association with the recovery of rare-earth minerals as a secondary resource, the U.S.

Clustomesogen Showing Sub‐Zero Liquid Crystal Properties: Supramolecular Assembly Between Cs2[Mo6Ii8(OCOC2F5)6] and Hexaethylenoxide Containing Mesogenic Dimers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Associating a red‐NIR phosphorescent octahedral hexanuclear molybdenum cluster compound with hexaethyleneoxide chains bearing mesogenic units on both ends leads to an emissive hybrid liquid crystal showing mesomorphism on a very unusual temperature range down to −25°C.

The distribution coefficients of Nd3+ and Y3+ between 0.1 and 2.1 M HNO3 and HDEHP at 298.15 K

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Chemical Engineering
Rare earth metals are considered to be some of the most critical raw materials on the planet due to their use in many products and technologies, the difficulty in isolating the individual elements from ores and each other, and the market restrictions ...

Novel Separation of Samarium, Europium and Gadolinium Using a Column Packed with Microcapsules Containing 2-Ethylhexylphosphonic Acid Mono-2-Ethylhexyl Ester

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2013
In this study, we paid attention to separate and recover samarium, europium and gadolinium, which are typical rare-earth metals. Since rare-earth metals have almost the same property, it is very difficult to separate them from each other.

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.

Anions Enhance Rare Earth Adsorption at Negatively Charged Surfaces

open access: yes, 2020
Anions are expected to be repelled from negatively charged surfaces. At aqueous interfaces, however, ion-specific effects can dominate over direct electrostatic interactions.

Study on the heat treatment of multispectral ZnS for residual stress reduction

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Multispectral ZnS (M − ZnS) will inevitably introduce stresses during the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) polycrystalline growth and hot isostatic pressing (HIPping) stages.
