A gaskinetic model for background flow effects on rarefied jet flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
© 2017 by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc. All rights reserved. We report some work on studying interactions between rarefied background and jet flows by considering two problems.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

A Cross-Regime Coupling Method for Conjugate Heat Transfer in Microscale Systems

open access: yesAerospace
In this work, a partitioned coupling algorithm is developed by integrating the improved discrete velocity method (IDVM) with the lattice Boltzmann flux solver (LBFS) to address conjugate heat transfer (CHT) in microscale systems across all flow regimes ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Change in drag, apparent slip and optimum air layer thickness for laminar flow over an idealised superhydrophobic surface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Analytic results are derived for the apparent slip length, the change in drag and the optimum air layer thickness of laminar channel and pipe flow over an idealised superhydrophobic surface, i.e. a gas layer of constant thickness retained on a wall.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Oscillatory rarefied gas flow inside rectangular cavities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Two-dimensional oscillatory lid-driven cavity flow of a rarefied gas at arbitrary oscillation frequency is investigated using the linearized Boltzmann equation.

SIMULATION OF RAREFIED GAS FLOW IN A RECTANGULAR ENCLOSURE

open access: yesProceeding of Proceedings of the 24th National and 2nd International ISHMT-ASTFE Heat and Mass Transfer Conference (IHMTC-2017), 2018
The present work investigates the effects of rarefaction on gas flow patterns in a lid-driven cavity using the simulation package dsmcFoam, on the OpenFOAM platform. Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method is a simulation technique which caters to the regime in between the computationally intensive molecular dynamics solvers, as well as the often ...

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...
