Rarefied dynamic pressure distribution measurement near a vacuum pump
In vacuum chambers, such as those at a ground test facility, pressure is higher and the gas resident time is longer than in space because such chambers are surrounded by walls and vacuum pumps.

Feasibility of Nitrogen as a Carrier Gas for Inconel Cold Spray in Hydropower Application
N2, despite being nearly two orders of magnitude cheaper than He, is a feasible carrier gas for cold spray Inconel coatings in hydropower repair applications when higher gas temperature and pressure are used. Reducing powder size significantly improved cavitation resistance, while the addition of fine chromium carbide particles further enhanced erosion

Hybrid continuum–molecular modelling of multiscale internal gas flows [PDF]
We develop and apply an efficient multiscale method for simulating a large class of low-speed internal rarefied gas flows. The method is an extension of the hybrid atomistic–continuum approach proposed by Borg et al.

Simulation of Rarefied Gas Flows in Microchannels
Abstract In this work the rarefied gas flows in microchannels is investigated. With low pressure owing to low gas density the gas slippage affetcting the channel walls is observed. The task of sliding flow on initial segments of flat (two-dimensional) channel of uniform cross section is solved.

Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...

Some consequences of non-local-equilibrium in hypersonic aerodynamic flows [PDF]
In simulating high-speed, high-altitude aerodynamics it is important to be able to capture physical phenomena that are due to the non-local-equilibrium nature of the rarefied gas flow (this is in addition to any effects due to dissociation, ionisation ...

This paper discusses comparisons of first and second-order slip boundary conditions on the range of Knudsen numbers of some typical MEMS as O(10-3)<Kn<O(10-1) by numerical simulations using the continuum model based on the Navier-Stokes (N-S ...
