Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Numerical modeling of gas flows in rarefied regimes is crucial in understanding fluid behavior in microscale applications. Rarefied regimes are characterized by a decrease in molecular collisions, and they lead to unusual phenomena such as gas phase ...

Higher-order Knudsen's permeability correction model for rarefied gas in micro-scale channels
Rarefaction effect appears when gas flows in micro/nano channels, so it is difficult to accurately predict real gas flow rate by using the classical theory.

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Simulating fluid flows in micro and nano devices : the challenge of non-equilibrium behaviour [PDF]
We review some recent developments in the modelling of non-equilibrium (rarefied) gas flows at the micro- and nano-scale, concentrating on two different but promising approaches: extended hydrodynamic models, and lattice Boltzmann methods.

In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Investigation of the Inverse Magnus Effect on a Rotating Sphere in Hypersonic Rarefied Flow
Explorations involving long-endurance and maneuvering flights in the upper atmosphere, as well as research on atmospheric entries of space debris or asteroids, call for a full understanding of hypersonic rarefied flows.

A kinetic Fokker–Planck approach for modeling variable hard-sphere gas mixtures
Kinetic Fokker–Planck (FP) methods for modeling rarefied gas flows have received increasing attention over the last few years. However, formulating such models for realistic multi-species gases is still an open subject of research.

This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Editorial: Rarefied Gas Flows—From Micro–Nano Scale to the Hypersonic Regime
Rarefied gas dynamics spans a wide spectrum of applications: micro–nano devices where the mean free path becomes comparable to characteristic lengths, vacuum and porous systems where Knudsen diffusion emerges, and high-speed (including hypersonic) flows ...
