Ratcheting Boundary Analysis of Straight and Elbow Piping

open access: yes, 2010
The ratcheting strains of the straight and elbow piping under two kinds of loads—pressurized piping under symmetric cyclic bending and pulsating cyclic pressure were analyzed based on Chaboche constitutive model.

Tree stem methane emissions are regulated by site‐level biogeochemistry over species identity in Amazon floodplain forests

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 1, Page 179-190, July 2026.
Summary Tree stems in Amazonian floodplains emit substantial methane (CH4), yet controls on emission variability remain unclear. Emissions span orders of magnitude between várzea (nutrient‐rich) and igapó (nutrient‐poor) forests and among trees, suggesting controls beyond flooding.

The Industrial Organization of Regulatory Capture

open access: yesSocial Science Quarterly, Volume 107, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective This study evaluates the role that the economic organization of an industry plays in its ability to successfully pressure government regulators for laxer enforcement Methods The effect of the industrial organization of the coal mining industry on environmental regulation is assessed using pooled cross‐sectional time‐series analyses ...

Modeling of ratcheting behavior under multiaxial cyclic loading

open access: yes, 2019
A two-surface plasticity theory is used to predict ratcheting strain under multiaxial loading. A kinematic hardening rule that combines the Mroz and Ziegler hardening rules is employed along with the plastic modulus given as an exponential function of ...

Ratcheting of 316L stainless steel thin wire under tension-torsion loading

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2016
A series of cyclic tension-torsion tests under symmetric shear strain and asymmetric axial stress control in various loading paths are conducted on 100 ?m-diameter 316L steel wires applying a micro tensiontorsion fatigue testing apparatus. The ratcheting

Effect of Prior Ratcheting on Tensile Properties of Titanium Stabilised Interstitial Free Steel

open access: yes, 2014
Engineering stress-control ratcheting tests have been done on specimens made of 2.3mm thick Titanium stabilised interstitial free steel. Tests were done for six different amounts ratcheting strain accumulation at constant stress parameters.

Hidden Fungal DNA Structures May Shape Sequencing Outcomes

open access: yesBioEssays, Volume 48, Issue 6, June 2026.
Sequencing fungal DNA presents numerous challenges, and unexplored structural anomalies may be a contributor. Native ONT sequencing allows artefacts of disrupted pore translocation to be interrogated, facilitating mapping to genomic loci using raw signal analyses. Subsequent visualization tools could reveal novel genome architectures and drive advances

Ratcheting Behavior of T225NG Titanium Alloy under Uniaxial Cyclic Stressing: Experiments and Modeling

open access: yes, 2005
In order to investigate the ratcheting behavior of T225NG alloy, a series of ratcheting tests under uniaxial long-cyclic stressing were performed. The results show that the ratcheting strain of this alloy can get into shakedown after tens (or hundreds ...

Beyond mammals: the evolution of chewing and other forms of oropharyngeal food processing in vertebrates

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 3, Page 1406-1462, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Oropharyngeal food processing exhibits a remarkable diversity among vertebrates, reflecting the evolution of specialised ‘processing centres’ associated with the mandibular, hyoid, and branchial arches. Although studies have detailed various food‐processing strategies and mechanisms across vertebrates, a coherent and comprehensive terminology ...
