Influence of mean stress on fatigue strength of stainless steel
In order to incorporate the mean stress effect in the design fatigue curve for designing nuclear power plant components, change in fatigue strength due to the mean stress and root causes of the change were investigated for Type 316 stainless steel. First,

Ratchet effect in dc SQUIDs [PDF]
We analyzed voltage rectification for dc SQUIDs biased with ac current with zero mean value. We demonstrate that the reflection symmetry in the 2-dimensional SQUID potential is broken by an applied flux and with appropriate asymmetries in the dc SQUID.

Photoreversible Polyurea Actuators With Spatiotemporal Control and Adaptive Mechanics
A light–thermal responsive polyurea network incorporating reversibly dimerizable anthracene units enables spatiotemporal modulation of cross‐linking density and nearly 400‐fold stiffness tuning. Integrating programmable anisotropy, photopatterning, self‐healing, and photowelding within a single framework, this bioinspired “one network–multifunction ...

Absence seizures: Update on signaling mechanisms and networks
Abstract Absence seizures (AS) are a hallmark of genetic generalized epilepsies (GGE), characterized by brief episodes of impaired consciousness accompanied by electroencephalographic spike‐and‐wave discharges (SWDs). Traditionally attributed to cortico‐thalamo‐cortical (CTC) dysrhythmia, emerging evidence suggests a more intricate pathophysiological ...

Magnus-induced ratchet effects for skyrmions interacting with asymmetric substrates
We show using numerical simulations that pronounced ratchet effects can occur for ac driven skyrmions moving over asymmetric quasi-one-dimensional substrates.

Climate Driven Water Table Changes and Their Influence on Liquefaction Response of Integral Bridges
ABSTRACT Integral abutment bridges (IABs) eliminate bearings and joints but transfer seismic demand directly into the surrounding soil, making their response highly sensitive to groundwater conditions and soil–structure interaction. This study presents a 60 g centrifuge testing programme on single‐span IABs designed to isolate the influence of water ...

LOW CYCLE FATIGUE LIFE PREDICTIONS OF 15CrMoR PARENT MATERIAL AND WELD METAL
Butt-weld specimen has been made for coke drum material 15 Cr MoR. For both parent and weld materials, uniaxial tensile tests and uniaxial ratcheting tests have been conducted under different temperatures.

Use of ultrasonography in assessing peri‐implant osseous defects: An in vitro study
Abstract Background The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility and diagnostic accuracy of ultrasonography in peri‐implant defect identification and evaluation, and to compare ultrasonography (USG) with cone‐beam computed tomography (CBCT) in defect identification and evaluation in an in vitro model.
