$U$-Processes: Rates of Convergence

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1987
Let \(\xi_ 1,\xi_ 2,..\). be independent, identically distributed random variables and denote by \[ S_ n(f)=\sum_{1\leq i\neq j\leq n}f(\xi_ i,\xi_ j) \] the U-statistic with respect to the kernel f. The authors obtain almost sure convergence results for \(S_ n(f)\) uniformly over \(f\in F\) where F belongs to certain classes of kernels.

Convergence rate of Krasulina estimator [PDF]

open access: yesStatistics & Probability Letters, 2019
Principal component analysis (PCA) is one of the most commonly used statistical procedures with a wide range of applications. Consider the points $X_1, X_2,..., X_n$ are vectors drawn i.i.d. from a distribution with mean zero and covariance $ $, where $ $ is unknown. Let $A_n = X_nX_n^T$, then $E[A_n] = $. This paper consider the problem of finding

Rate of convergence of Lawson’s algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics of Computation, 1972
The algorithm of Charles L. Lawson determines uniform approximations of functions as limits of weighted L 2 {L_2} approximations. Lawson noticed from experimental evidence that the algorithm seemed to converge linearly and convergence was related to a factor which was the ratio of the largest ...

On Convergence Rate of MRetrace

open access: yesMathematics
Off-policy is a key setting for reinforcement learning algorithms. In recent years, the stability of off-policy learning for value-based reinforcement learning has been guaranteed even when combined with linear function approximation and bootstrapping ...

The rate of convergence to the normal law in terms of pseudomoments

open access: yesModern Stochastics: Theory and Applications, 2015
We establish the rate of convergence of distributions of sums of independent identically distributed random variables to the Gaussian distribution in terms of truncated pseudomoments by implementing the idea of Yu.

A faster iterative scheme for solving nonlinear fractional differential equations of the Caputo type

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics, 2023
In this paper, we introduce a new fixed point iterative scheme called the AG iterative scheme that is used to approximate the fixed point of a contraction mapping in a uniformly convex Banach space.

Estimating Smoothness and Optimal Bandwidth for Probability Density Functions

open access: yesStats, 2022
The properties of non-parametric kernel estimators for probability density function from two special classes are investigated. Each class is parametrized with distribution smoothness parameter. One of the classes was introduced by Rosenblatt, another one

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...
