PREDICTION OF PORE PRESSURE FROM PENETRATION RATE

Proceedings of Fall Meeting of the Society of Petroleum Engineers of AIME, 1968
American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers, Inc. This paper was prepared for the 43rd Annual Fall Meeting of the Society of Petroleum Engineers of AIME, to be held in Houston, Tex., Sept. 29-Oct. 2, 1968. Permission to copy is restricted to an abstract of not more than 300 words. Illustrations may not be copied.

Rate of Penetration of Ions into Erythrocytes

Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 1942
Summary. The red corpuscles contain much larger amounts of acid soluble phosphorus compounds than the plasma. The difference is only maintained as long as an active process, an alternative phosphorylation and dephosphorylation, takes place in the corpuscles, a process which, was studied by measuring the rate of penetration of labelled phosphorus into ...

Optimal Market Penetration Rates of VICS

2011
VICS (Vehicle Information and Communication System) is a digital data communication system which provides prompt and useful information on current traffic conditions — such as traffic congestion, accidents, or link-travel time — to drivers via car navigation equipment. VICS was described in detail in Chapter 5.

Influence of Penetration Rate on Penetrometer Resistance

Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 2011
Penetration resistance in fine-grained soils varies with the rate of penetration. Considering undrained behavior as a reference, as the rate of penetration is reduced, soil resistance increases because of the effects of partial consolidation and soil strengthening immediately ahead of the probe.

Slow Rate Penetration of Packaging Films

Journal of Plastic Film & Sheeting, 1990
A detailed evaluation of the slow rate penetration resistance measure ment was conducted on twenty-two different monolithic, coextruded, or laminated flexible barrier packaging films using five different probe geometries. No universal change in penetration resistance with penetration rate was found.

Penetration-Rate Performance of Roller-Cone Bits

SPE Drilling Engineering, 1987
Summary The rate of penetration (ROP) obtained with a roller-cone bit is limited by either the cuttings-generation or cuttings-removal process. An ROP model that includes the effect of both the initial chip formation and cuttings-removal processes is presented.

Correlation of Standard Penetration Test Results with Vibracore Sampler Penetration Rates

1972
A correlation between the penetration rates of a vibratory underwater sampling device and blow counts from the conventional standard penetration test and the continuous-drive cone penetration test is described. Although limited test data are available, the correlation shows promise for low blow count underwater soil deposits. A practical example of the

Comprehensive Drill-Rate Management Process To Maximize Rate of Penetration

Proceedings of SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 2006
Abstract The operator's drill rate management process is designed to maximize rate of penetration (ROP) in every foot of hole drilled. Due to its quantitative nature and the degree to which it is incorporated into all phases of the drill well process, the operator believes it to be the industry's first comprehensive ROP design process ...

Effect of Penetration Rate on Cone Penetration Resistance in Saturated Clayey Soils

Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 2008
In this paper, the effects of penetration rate on cone resistance in saturated clayey soils are investigated. Shear strength rate effects in clayey soils are related to two physical processes: the increase of shear strength with increasing rate of loading and the increase of shear strength as the process transitions from undrained to drained.

Penetration rates of osmium tetroxide with different fixation vehicles

Histochemie, 1960
The presence of any substance other than OsO4 in osmium tetroxide fixation mixtures causes a decrease in the penetration rate of the fixative. Fixation times should therefore be prolonged whenever a fixation mixture containing osmotically active substances is used.
