Rate distortion optimized curve determination for curved wavelet image coding

2009 16th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2009
The curved wavelet transform (CWT) was developed to enhance compactness of the wavelet transform (WT) representation. Curve determination is critical for the CWT because a well-defined curve set can increase the performance gain in terms of the rate-distortion (R-D).

Adaptive Rating Curve Estimation: AdaptRatin

Water resource management is impossible without accurate information about stream discharge. However measuring  stream discharge is difficult and therefore stream height measurements, which are easier to obtain, are used as proxies. The conversion of stream height to stream discharge relies on a stage-discharge relationship, which is unique to ...

Learning Curves, Production Rate, and Program Costs

Management Science, 1979
This paper deals with a model of the firm engaged in production to order. Models of this situation frequently conclude that the size of the order and production rate each influence the costs of production. Despite this fact, empirical work on production costs focus almost exclusively on either production rate or the size of the order as explainers of ...

Yield Curves, Swap Curves, and Term Structure of Interest Rates

2019
Abstract This chapter discusses multiple definitions of the yield curve and provides a conceptual understanding on the construction of yield curves for several markets. It reviews several definitions of the yield curve and examines the basic principles of the arbitrage-free pricing as they apply to yield curve construction.

Microphone Self-Noise Rating Curves

1994
Microphone self-noise is generally measured using the standard A-weighting curve, since this method provides a useful comparison between microphones that are used for music and speech recording played back at normal levels.
