TRPM4 contributes to cell death in prostate cancer tumor spheroids, and to extravasation and metastasis in a zebrafish xenograft model system

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Transient receptor potential melastatin‐4 (TRPM4) is overexpressed in prostate cancer (PCa). Knockout of TRPM4 resulted in reduced PCa tumor spheroid size and decreased PCa tumor spheroid outgrowth. In addition, lack of TRPM4 increased cell death in PCa tumor spheroids.

How Americans Feel About Religious Groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Jews, Catholics and evangelical Christians are viewed warmly by the American public. When asked to rate each group on a "feeling thermometer" ranging from to 100 -- where reflects the coldest, most negative possible rating and 100 the warmest, most ...

Variable-Scaling Rate Control for Collision-Free Teleoperation of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We propose that automatically adjusting the scale factor in rate-control teleoperation could enable a human operator to better control the motion of a remote robot. In this paper, we present four new variable-scaling rate-control methods that adjust the scale factor depending on the state of the user's input commands and/or the risk of a collision ...

Cystatin A promotes the antitumor activity of T helper type 1 cells and dendritic cells in murine models of pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a disease with very poor prognosis due to therapeutic limitations. We investigated the antitumor effects of cystatin A (CSTA) in PDAC murine models. We are first to confirm that CSTA enhances T helper type 1‐mediated antitumor effects through promotion of dendritic cells and M1 macrophage activity. CSTA can be

Response formats in questionnaires: Itemized rating scales versus continuous rating scales [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper presents the results of an experimental study comparing itemized rating scales and continuous rating scales. Three dimensions, and one particular construct (brand attitude) served as the basis of the comparisons of multi-item applications of ...

Ad Hoc Networking With Cost-Effective Infrastructure: Generalized Capacity Scaling [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Capacity scaling of a large hybrid network with unit node density, consisting of $n$ wireless ad hoc nodes, base stations (BSs) equipped with multiple antennas, and one remote central processor (RCP), is analyzed when wired backhaul links between the BSs and the RCP are rate-limited.

Integration of single‐cell and bulk RNA‐sequencing data reveals the prognostic potential of epithelial gene markers for prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer is a leading malignancy with significant clinical heterogeneity in men. An 11‐gene signature derived from dysregulated epithelial cell markers effectively predicted biochemical recurrence‐free survival in patients who underwent radical surgery or radiotherapy.

The Orthostatic Hypotension Questionnaire in Swedish tested in patients with parkinsonism

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, 2020
Background Orthostatic hypotension (OH) is common among older people and in particular in conditions like Parkinson’s disease (PD). The OH Questionnaire (OHQ) has been proposed as a useful patient‐reported assessment tool consisting of the OH Symptom ...

MET variants with activating N‐lobe mutations identified in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinomas still require ligand stimulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MET variants in the N‐lobe of the kinase domain, found in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinoma, require ligand stimulation to promote cell transformation, in contrast to other RTK variants. This suggests that HGF expression in the microenvironment is important for tumor growth in such patients. Their sensitivity to MET inhibitors opens the way for
