In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Defining an alternative assessment construct as a rating scale for evaluation of LSP oral presentation [PDF]
The subject of the research is grounded on the theoretical analysis of different models of communicative competence in order to develop rating criteria for assessment of oral presentation in language for specific purposes.

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

Iranian EFL Writing Raters’ Behaviors When Interacting with Analytic and Holistic Rating Scales [PDF]
Among different factors affecting writing assessment, rater and rating scale are two influential variables that determine the outcome of assessment. In fact, the way raters interact with rating scales considerably affects the validity of their assessment.

Lamotrigine for acute bipolar depression: An exploratory item‐level analysis
Objectives Lamotrigine is used to treat bipolar depression despite inconsistent evidence. Here we present the results of an exploratory item‐level analysis of pooled data from five randomized placebo‐controlled trials of lamotrigine for acute bipolar ...

Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...
