The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Research Progress on Responsiveness of Activities of Daily Living Scales of Patients with Stroke

open access: yes康复学报, 2022
Stroke is characterized with high morbidity, high disability rate and high mortality rate. Motor dysfunction after stroke often leads to decreased activities of daily living (ADL) and affects the quality of life of patients.

Defining an alternative assessment construct as a rating scale for evaluation of LSP oral presentation [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik radova (Univerzitet u Kragujevcu. Pedagoški fakultet u Užicu)
The subject of the research is grounded on the theoretical analysis of different models of communicative competence in order to develop rating criteria for assessment of oral presentation in language for specific purposes.

Oligoantigenic Diet Improves Children’s ADHD Rating Scale Scores Reliably in Added Video-Rating

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2020
ObjectivesThe influence of food intake on behavioural disorders was already described in the early 20th century. Elimination of individually allergenic food items from individual diets [“oligoantigenic diet” (OD)] showed promise to improve attention ...

Response formats in questionnaires: Itemized rating scales versus continuous rating scales [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper presents the results of an experimental study comparing itemized rating scales and continuous rating scales. Three dimensions, and one particular construct (brand attitude) served as the basis of the comparisons of multi-item applications of ...

Subjective rating scales as a workload [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
A multidimensional bipolar-adjective rating scale is employed as a subjective measure of operator workload in the performance of a one-axis tracking task.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A New Evaluation Circuit for DC-link Capacitors Used in a Three-Phase Inverter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
DC-link capacitors in power electronic converters are a major constraint on improvement of power density as well as reliability. Evaluation of the dc-link capacitors in terms of power loss, ageing, and failure rate will play an important role in design ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
