OPTIMILK: A Web-Based Tool for Least-Cost Dairy Ration Optimization Using Linear Programming

open access: yesAgriculture
Feed costs represent a significant component of milk production expenses, making up a share of 50% or more of the total cost. The optimization of feed costs is important to achieve financial stability, competitiveness, and sustainability in dairy farming.

Space‐Efficient Logical Qubit Architecture with a Bus for Magic State Consumption

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, EarlyView.
This paper proposes a logical qubit architecture, considering the consumption of magic states. By constructing the patch to the magic state using the repetition code and data qubits using the surface code, the proposed architecture minimizes the number of qubits, referred to as the space cost.

Understanding Interactions Between Sustainable Development Goals Within and Between Policy Programmes: The Case of Kenya's Dairy Sector

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Achieving Agenda 2030 depends on addressing interactions between the sustainable development goals (SDGs). In this paper, we conceptualize SDG interactions as synergies or trade‐offs, incoming or outgoing, and internal or external, and analyze how SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) interacts with other SDGs within and across policy programmes that support ...

The Impact of Dual‐Salt Electrolyte with Low Fluorine Content on the Performance of Layered Transition Metal Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Dual‐salt electrolytes with low fluorine content high voltage sodium‐ion batteries cathodes: In this work, novel electrolytes containing two low fluorine content salts with enhanced safety features and the ability to passivate the Al current collector is reported. The suitability of these electrolytes in combination with P2‐Na2/3Al1/9Fe1/9Mn2/3Ni1/9O2 (

From Membrane Composition to Antimicrobial Strategies: Experimental and Computational Approaches to AMP Design and Selectivity

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are promising candidates for next‐generation antibiotics, acting through mechanisms such as membrane disruption and intracellular targeting. This review examines how variations in bacterial membrane composition critically influence AMP activity.

Renovating Neural Networks With Viral‐Mediated Gene Transfer From A Tissue Contacting Matrix Mimic

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Fmoc‐DDIKVAV self‐assembling peptidemediated delivery of AAV‐BDNF significantly enhances neuroprotection in the striatum of a mouse model compared with AAV‐BDNF injection alone. This synergistic integration of biomaterial scaffolding and gene therapy holds substantial promise for slowing the progression of neurodegenerative diseases such as Huntington ...

Average Symmetry and Complexity of Binary Sequences

open access: yes, 2017
The concept of complexity as average symmetry is here formalised by introducing a general expression dependent on the relevant symmetry and a related discrete set of transformations.

DoE‐It‐Yourself (DoEIY): An Open‐Access Web Application for Democratizing Experimental Design in Chemical and Materials Research

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Reproducible and efficient experimental workflows remain a persistent challenge in chemical and materials research. Design of Experiments (DoE) provides a powerful multivariate framework but is often limited by complexity and accessibility. DoEIY.app is a free, browser‐based web application that enables guided experimental design, analysis, and ...

Enhanced Microbial Sensing via Resazurin Reduction Catalyzed by Graphene Oxide, A Versatile Approach for Diagnostics and Electrochemical Applications

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Resazurin is a cell viability phenoxazine dye widely employed for bacterial monitoring, as its colorimetric and fluorometric conversion reflects microbial metabolic activity. In this work, we demonstrate that graphene oxide (GO), a two‐dimensional nanomaterial with high surface reactivity, markedly accelerates the reduction of resazurin in the
