On rational triangles via algebraic curves [PDF]

open access: yesRocky Mountain Journal of Mathematics, Volume 48, Number 1 (2018), 325-343, 2016
A rational triangle is a triangle with rational side lengths. We consider three different families of rational triangles having a fixed side and whose vertices are rational points in the plane. We display a one-to-one correspondence between each family and the set of rational points of an algebraic curve. These algebraic curves are: a curve of genus 0,

Response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in early breast cancers is associated with epithelial–mesenchymal transition and tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) and tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are associated with early breast cancer response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). This study evaluated EMT and TIL shifts, with immunofluorescence and RNA sequencing, at diagnosis and in residual tumors as potential biomarkers associated with treatment response.

Evaluation of intrafraction couch shifts for proton treatment delivery in head‐and‐neck cancer patients: Toward optimal imaging frequency

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose Treatment planning for head‐and‐neck (H&N) cancer, in particular oropharynx, nasopharynx, and paranasal sinus cases, at our center requires noncoplanar proton beams due to the complexity of the anatomy and target location. Targeting accuracy for all beams is carefully evaluated by using image guidance before delivering proton beam ...

Quadratic rational functions with a rational periodic critical point of period 3 [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
We provide a complete classification of possible graphs of rational preperiodic points of quadratic rational functions defined over the rationals with a rational periodic critical point of period 3, under two assumptions: that these functions have no periodic points of period at least 5 and the conjectured enumeration of points on a certain genus 6 ...

Molecular and functional profiling unravels targetable vulnerabilities in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We used whole exome and RNA‐sequencing to profile divergent genomic and transcriptomic landscapes of microsatellite stable (MSS) and microsatellite instable (MSI) colorectal cancer. Alterations were classified using a computational score for integrative cancer variant annotation and prioritization.

Clinical commissioning of an adaptive radiotherapy platform: Results and recommendations

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Online adaptive radiotherapy platforms present a unique challenge for commissioning as guidance is lacking and specialized adaptive equipment, such as deformable phantoms, are rare. We designed a novel adaptive commissioning process consisting of end‐to‐end tests using standard clinical resources.

The Rationality Dialogy Between Economics and Psychology

open access: yesContemporary Social Sciences, 2016
Economics and psychology take distinct approaches to predicting and formalizing human behavior. Economics focuses on the normative view of rationality, while psychology emphasizes the descriptive nature of rationality.
