Relaxation dynamics in fluids of platelike colloidal particles

open access: yes, 2007
The relaxation dynamics of a model fluid of platelike colloidal particles is investigated by means of a phenomenological dynamic density functional theory.

Implante de um floculado de resina de mamona em alvéolo dental de rato

open access: yes, 2001
The purposes of the present study were: 1) to investigate the biocompatibility of a natural resin (made of fatty acids extracted from Ricinus communis) implanted in the dental alveolus of rats and 2) to verify any possible interference of that material ...

A multidisciplinary study on the location of Roman sites in the southern sub‐plateau of the Iberian Peninsula

open access: yesArchaeometry, Volume 67, Issue 5, Page 1373-1390, October 2025.
Abstract Architectural and engineering elements of the Roman civilization constitute an important cultural heritage. Nevertheless, not all ancient Roman cities and the roads connecting them have been found, mainly because classical geographical sources show a significant lack of precision.

Proposição de videolaparoscopia em ratos

open access: yesActa Cirurgica Brasileira, 1997
Os autores apresentam a possibilidade do uso da videolaparoscopia em ratos. Foram utilizados 10 ratos Wistar. Empregaram um óptica de 3mm, 30 graus, usada em artroscopia. Obtiveram bo visibilização dos órgãos da cavidade peritoneal. A introdução de agulhas especiais e instrumentos delicados permitiram realizar os procedimentos operatórios.

O efeito do intervalo da estimulação elétrica no músculo desnervado de rato

open access: yes, 2008
OBJECTIVE: To compare the effect of electrical stimulation (ES) applied daily and on alternate days, on the area density of the connective tissue (CT) and on the cross-sectional area (CSA) of the denervated muscle fibers.

Biaxial nematic phases in fluids of hard board-like particles

open access: yes, 2011
We use density-functional theory, of the fundamental-measure type, to study the relative stability of the biaxial nematic phase, with respect to non-uniform phases such as smectic and columnar, in fluids made of hard board-like particles with sizes ...

Avaliação qualitativa e quantitativa das lesões agudas por esmagamento do nervo isquiático do rato

open access: yes, 2006
Rats’ ischiatic nerves smashed with different loads were studied with the aid of light microscopy. Weights of 500 g, 1,000 g, 5,000 g, 10,000 g, and 15,000 g were used for 10 minutes in a portable device, especially developed for this study ...

Differently Shaped Hard Body Colloids in Confinement: From passive to active particles

open access: yes, 2013
We review recent progress in the theoretical description of anisotropic hard colloidal particles. The shapes considered range from rods and dumbbells to rounded cubes, polyhedra and to biaxial particles with arbitrary shape.

Demixing behavior in two-dimensional mixtures of anisotropic hard bodies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Scaled particle theory for a binary mixture of hard discorectangles and for a binary mixture of hard rectangles is used to predict possible liquid-crystal demixing scenarios in two dimensions.
