Adipocyte‐Derived Leptolin Enhances Energy Expenditure and Prevents Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 46, 17 August 2026.
We identified a novel adipokine, which we named leptolin. In humans, leptolin levels in white adipose tissue were positively correlated with exercise and negatively associated with body mass index. We observed elevated leptolin in serum from athletes and lower leptolin in serum from obese individuals.

Mastication‐Induced Electrical Stimulation Activates Prg4+ Chondroprogenitors for Osteoarthritis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 45, 13 August 2026.
This study presents a ″trash‐to‐treasure″ strategy that converts harmful joint overloads into beneficial electrical cues. The biodegradable MagPie, by providing piezoelectrical stimulation and releasing Mg2+ during mastication, exerts synergistic pro‐regenerative and anti‐inflammatory effects on Prg4+ cells via the ECM‐mediated FAK‐PI3K‐Akt axis ...

Valorization of Ficus carica Pruning Residues as Selective Botanical Insecticides: Optimized Furanocoumarin Extraction, Efficacy Against Neotropical Stink Bugs, and Mechanistic Insights via Molecular Docking

open access: yesArchives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, Volume 122, Issue 4, August 2026.
Optimized extracts from Ficus carica pruning waste exhibit strong biological activity against major stink bug pests. Complementary in silico analyses suggest this efficacy relies on pest‐specific acetylcholinesterase inhibition, predicting a promising, pollinator‐safe alternative for sustainable agriculture.

HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α Are Upregulated in the Hippocampus but Not in the Medial Prefrontal Cortex in Experimental PTSD

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Post‐traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a psychiatric disorder characterized by anxiety, abnormal stress responses, and pathological memory formation. Research indicates that hypoxia‐inducible pathways might influence the neurobiology of PTSD.

Integrative Network Pharmacology and Transcriptomics Reveal the Mechanism of XuanShi Choudong Recipe in the Treatment of Tic Disorder

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
Using an integrated strategy of network pharmacology and transcriptomics, this study elucidates the therapeutic mechanism of XuanShi Choudong Recipe (CDR) against tic disorder (TD). CDR dose‐dependently alleviates apomorphine‐induced tic‐like stereotypy and hyperlocomotion in rats, restores striatal neurotransmitter homeostasis, and attenuates ...

Host, vector, and parasite dynamics: exploring intrinsic and extrinsic factors shaping tick‐borne filarial nematode transmission

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 4, Page 1779-1792, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Tick‐borne filarial nematodes are a complex and understudied group of parasites that rely on ticks for transmission in vertebrates. This review examines how intrinsic and extrinsic factors may influence the successful transmission of filarial nematodes in tick vectors, drawing insights from extensively studied haematophagous dipteran vector ...
