Lacustrine and fan‐delta sediments in syn‐rift lake basins

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 11, Issue 3, Page 857-892, June 2025.
A consistent model for the sequence framework and depositional pattern of asymmetric half‐grabens in syn‐rift lake basins bounded by active faults has been established, complementing existing models for marine rift successions. Syn‐rift lake basins are characterised by relatively small dimensions, steep slopes, poorly developed shoreline strata ...

A Novel Approach for Autonomous Densely Spaced Acquisition of Buried Objects in Intertidal Environments—Field Examples From Avaldsnes, Norway

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, Volume 32, Issue 1, Page 59-76, January/March 2025.
ABSTRACT Underwater archaeology relies on expensive and time‐consuming invasive methods for identifying and excavating objects buried in the seabed or identifying layers in shallow and intertidal environments. Especially shallow and intertidal environments are challenging due to locally high levels of sedimentation that offer good conditions for ...

Correlation of Seismic Data and Sediment Cores From the Seabed in the Medieval Harbour at Avaldsnes, Norway

open access: yesGeoarchaeology, Volume 40, Issue 1, January/February 2025.
ABSTRACT This interdisciplinary study demonstrates the successful integration of non‐destructive geophysical methods and sediment core analyses for mapping the seabed in the historical harbour at Avaldsnes in south‐west Norway. In the Medieval Period, this was a royal manor, with the harbour as a central hub for the Hanseatic League in the 14th to 15th

The Upper Devonian to Lower Carboniferous Billefjorden Group on Bjørnøya, Svalbard, and Its North‐Eastern Greenlandic Provenance

open access: yesBasin Research, Volume 36, Issue 6, November–December 2024.
First detrital zircon provenance study of the Billefjorden Group on Bjørnøya, Svalbard. The East Greenland Caledonides formed a long‐lived source terrain in northeast Greenland. Syn‐sedimentary faulting, drainage shifts and changing fluvial styles have little influence on detrital zircon age spectrum.

Evolving fill‐and‐spill patterns across linked early post‐rift depocentres control lobe characteristics: Los Molles Formation, Argentina

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 71, Issue 5, Page 1639-1685, August 2024.
ABSTRACT Inherited rift topography controls the sediment routing, timing of sand supply, and sedimentary linkage of early post‐rift depocentres. Exhumed examples of early post‐rift turbidite systems are rare and previous studies have examined the evolution of individual depocentres; in contrast, the detailed evolution of early post‐rift turbidite ...
