Subspace Gap Residuals for Rayleigh–Ritz Approximations
Large scale eigenvalue and singular value computations are usually based on extracting information from a compression of the matrix to suitably chosen low dimensional subspaces. This paper introduces new a posteriori relative error bounds based on a residual expressed using the largest principal angle (gap) between relevant subspaces.

Determination of Resonances by the Optimized Spectral Approach
The Rayleigh-Ritz procedure for determining bound-states of the Schr\"{o}dinger equation relies on spectral representation of the solution as a linear combination of the basis functions.

Rayleigh-Ritz majorization error bounds with applications to FEM [PDF]
The Rayleigh-Ritz (RR) method finds the stationary values, called Ritz values, of the Rayleigh quotient on a given trial subspace as approximations to eigenvalues of a Hermitian operator $A$.

The convergence of Rayleigh-Ritz approximations [PDF]
This paper is concerned with the convergence of Rayleigh-Ritz approximations to the solution of an elliptic boundary value problem. Although the work arose in connection with the aerofoil problem (and it is to this problem that the results obtained are immediately applied), the methods here employed are suitable for use on the wider class of problem ...

Oscillations of coronal loops using Rayleigh–Ritz technique [PDF]
In this paper, we apply the Rayleigh-Ritz Variational Scheme for studying the transverse oscillations of a magnetic flux tube. The flux tube is considered in low-$ $ solar coronal condition. The perturbations decomposed into irrotational and solenoidal components and MHD equations are reduced as a matrix eigenvalue problem.

Rayleigh-Ritz variation method and connected-moments polynomial approach
We show that the connected-moments polynomial approach proposed recently is equivalent to the well known Rayleigh-Ritz variation method in the Krylov space.

Free vibration of arbitrary-shaped laminated triangular thin plates with elastic boundary conditions
This paper studies the free vibration of arbitrary shaped laminated triangular thin plates based on a modified Fourier series method. An arbitrary shaped triangular plate is mapped into a right-angled isosceles triangular plate with unit length by the ...
