Rayleigh's Problem in Magnetohydrodynamics

The Physics of Fluids, 1959
Extension of Rayleigh's problem to magnetohydrodynamics is investigated for a perfectly conducting plate with a transversely applied magnetic field. Induced electric and magnetic fields are both included in the analysis. Results obtained show that along the plate an electromagnetic body force will act in the direction of fluid motion.

Comparison of quasi-Rayleigh waves and Rayleigh waves, and clarifying the cut-off frequency of quasi-Rayleigh waves

Ultrasonics, 2019
The Partial Wave Method is unique in that it establishes a foundation on which various elastodynamic guided waves can be compared. In this paper, the method is used to compare quasi-Rayleigh waves and Rayleigh waves, and investigate the eccentricities of the Partial Wave Method at phase velocities equal to the Rayleigh wave speed.

The Generalized Rayleigh Quotient

Canadian Mathematical Bulletin, 1974
In this paper we generalize the concept of the Rayleigh quotient to a complex Banach space. Lord Rayleigh investigated the quotient(1)considered as a function of the components of q, in the case of a symmetric matrix pencil Aλ+C with A positive definite.

Oscillations of a statistical scattering in the Rayleigh limit and the Rayleigh law violation

Ultrasonics, 2012
Oscillations of the Rayleigh wave statistical scattering in the Rayleigh limit are theoretically found. These oscillations are violation of the Rayleigh law of scattering. They are caused by the diffraction of a new form - the extraordinary scattering in the Rayleigh limit, which leads to the different frequency dependencies of the scattering ...
