The epsilon‐near‐zero (ENZ) effect in metals emerges only in nanometer‐scale films with exceptional optical quality. Titanium nitride (TiN) films grown by molecular beam epitaxy retain high crystallinity down to 2 nm and exhibit dramatically enhanced nonlinear optical responses near the ENZ region.

Improved model for multiple uncorrelated Rayleigh fading channels
An improved model for multiple uncorrelated Rayleigh channels was proposed.Compared with other models, this new model satisfied not only the stochastic characters of Rayleigh channel but also the uncorrelation between different fading channels. The ...

Temperature Retrievals for a Three-Channel Rayleigh Lidar System
We present the performance of a middle atmosphere Rayleigh lidar system that employs three receiver channels. We characterize the biases in the density and temperature profiles retrieved from each of the receiver channels as well as the combined receiver

Perspective: Hollow Core Optical Fibres for Ultraviolet and Visible Wavelengths
Hollow core optical fibres bypass material constraints that limit optical fibres at ultraviolet and visible wavelengths. However, their challenging fabrication has limited their development, and significant gains in performance remain possible. In this perspective we outline approaches to enable the next generation of fibres for shorter wavelengths ...
