Rayleigh fading networks: a cross-layer way

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2009
This paper addresses Rayleigh fading networks, and in particular, wireless ad-hoc and sensor networks over Rayleigh fading channels. First, we will model Rayleigh fading networks and show how to map the wireless fading channel to the upper layer parameters for cross-layer design.

LDPC coded modulation for Rayleigh fading channels

2012 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP), 2012
This paper presents a novel scheme of low-density-parity-check (LDPC) coded modulation system called bit-expand-interleaved coded modulation with iterative decoding and demapping (BEICM-ID) over Rayleigh fading channels. In traditional bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) schemes and its iterative version, BICM-ID, each bit node is mapped into one ...

Decomposition of Rayleigh Fading dispersive channels

2001
This thesis identifies, develops and applies methods for the decomposition of fading dispersive channels. Such channels arise in wireless communication as a result of multipath and relative motion of the transmitter, scatterers and receiver. The decompositions considered are the f-power series and Karhunen-Loève (KL) expansions.

Coding for the Rayleigh fading channel

1996
The problem of effective coding for the Rayleigh fading channel is addressed. A signal transmitted over the Rayleigh fading channel experiences quasi-periodic deep fades in the signal amplitude, and random phase shifts. The fades in signal amplitude are the cause of error events and limit the bit error rate of an uncoded system to about 10-4 at a ...

Bandwidth‐efficient turbo coding over Rayleigh fading channels

International Journal of Communication Systems, 2002
AbstractIntroduced in 1993, turbo codes can achieve high coding gains close to the Shannon limit. In order to design power and bandwidth‐efficient coding schemes, several approaches have been introduced to combine high coding rate turbo codes with multilevel modulations.

Field simulator for Rayleigh/Rician fading reproduction

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium. 1996 Digest, 2002
This paper presents a field simulator to reproduce the propagation environment as indoor facilities, simulating the outdoor and indoor multipath fading environment. The field simulator is required to reproduce Rayleigh or Nakagami-Rice fading, handover simulation in a cellular system, arbitrary time delay spread, frequency selective fading, and Doppler
