In the last decades, the use of camera traps for wildlife studies has increased significantly due to advancements in technology leading to cost reduction and improved reliability. They facilitate the study of wild animals in their natural environment in a minimally invasive manner, eliminating the need for researchers to remain in the field for long ...

Scalable Computation of Topological Abstractions for Scalar Data
Abstract Topological data analysis has become an important tool for large scale scalar data analysis and visualization, efficiently extracting the inherent structure and features of interest of the data. However, with growing dataset sizes and complexity, it is increasingly becoming infeasible to compute topological abstractions of interest in serial ...

The Origins of Ploem's Filter Cube: A Pandora's Box
Abstract Ploem's filter cube, central to modern epifluorescence microscopy, integrates three matched optical components: an excitation filter, an emission filter, and a dichroic mirror. Together, these elements enable the separation of excitation and emission light paths, producing high‐contrast fluorescence images.

Measurement and modeling of diffuse ultraviolet radiation: A review
Solar UV radiation consists of direct and diffuse UV components. The diffuse component contributes to the exposure received by humans and to the risk of skin cancer and sun‐related eye disorders. This review aims to determine future research directions for the measurement and modeling of diffuse solar UV radiation.

ABSTRACT This paper illustrates opportunities for the use of simulated ground motions in seismic performance assessment – from seismic hazard, ground‐motion selection, response history analysis, and seismic demand hazard calculation. The illustration is through a comparative analysis with the conventional alternative of observed ground motions.

This study quantifies the influence of multidimensional effects on site response in the Wellington region of New Zealand by comparing results from different simulation approaches. Response‐spectral amplification functions from 1D and 2D site response analyses are compared to quantify the magnitude and spatial distribution of multidimensional effects ...

Abstract Large‐scale wave structure (LSWS) and the post‐sunset rise (PSSR) are two key factors in the generation of equatorial spread F (ESF). In this study, we reported continuous and direct observations of LSWS and PSSR and their effects on seeding ESF by Sanya incoherent scatter radar (SYISR) and ionosonde in September–October 2024.

Evaporation and Cold Pools Beneath Trade Cumulus Clouds
Abstract The sources of air and water vapor in the tropical trade‐wind Atlantic subcloud boundary layer (SBL) are analyzed using in situ measurements of temperature, specific humidity, and stable water isotopologues (HDO and H218O) from shipboard observations in January‐February 2020.
