Abstract Quantifying the viscosity of hydrous volcanic melts is essential for understanding ascent dynamics, degassing efficiency, and fragmentation, yet laboratory measurements may be compromised by syn‐analytical evolution in melt structure at the nanoscale, thus yielding viscosity values not representative of a homogeneous melt phase.

Viscoacoustic Full Wavefield Migration With Tomographic Q Estimation
ABSTRACT Seismic wave propagation in the Earth's subsurface is influenced by anelastic attenuation, which causes energy loss and waveform distortion, degrading image resolution. This effect, quantified by the quality factor (Qf${{\textit {Q}}_f}$), is particularly pronounced in settings such as carbon capture and storage and near‐surface studies, where

Microspherules formed by lightning strikes
Abstract Natural microspherules are formed by high‐temperature processes and are present throughout the geologic record to the present day. We report the discovery of large numbers of microspherules recovered from a rock pavement in the Pilbara region, Western Australia.

Layered Seismic Anisotropy and Tectonics of the Anatolian Plate
Abstract Anatolian tectonics are associated with slab retreat in the west and gravitational potential energy and continental collision in the east, leading to westward motion of Anatolia relative to Eurasia, partially accommodated on the North and East Anatolian transform faults.

Transport to the Extratropical Stratosphere by Overshooting Storms in Idealized Simulations
Abstract Deep convection is a significant source of water to the extratropical stratosphere which can alter radiative properties and contribute to ozone loss. Previous studies find it responsible for 40% of mid‐latitude water vapor above 380K. However, the amount of hydration from individual storms and the mechanisms that initiate mixing is less ...
