Trace element analysis of sound and decayed Norway spruce (Picea abies) by XRF and NAA methods.

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 1979
Ashed tree samples from sound and decayed Norway spruce ( (L.) H. Karst.) were studied by means of fast neutron activation analysis, and for comparison, also by X-ray fluorescence analysis. In fast neutron activation analysis, the following elements were

Application of XRF Scanning to Different Geological Archives

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, 2021
High‐resolution XRF scanning is widely used on marine and lake sediment cores as a means of rapidly acquiring elemental concentrations from closely spaced intervals with no damage to the samples. Therefore, guidance on how to obtain reliable datasets and

Rb-Sr, Sm-Nd ages of the Phalaborwa Carbonatite Complex, South Africa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We analyzed Rb-Sr and Sm-Nd isotopic compositions of whole-rock and minerals from syenite, biotite gneiss xenolith, dolerite dyke, phoscorite, and carbonatite from the Phalaborwa Carbonatite Complex located in northeastern Transvaal, South Africa ...

Provenance of fine-grained sedimentary rocks derived from Rb-Sr and Sm-Nd analyses: the example of the Santa Maria Formation (Triassic, Parana Basin, Southern Brazil)

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Sedimentology and Basin Analysis, 2006
In this work, the Rb-Sr and Sm-Nd methods were applied to fine-grained sedimentary rock samples of the Santa Maria Formation (Triassic, Paraná Basin) in order to have provenance informations.

Sm-Nd isotopic systematics of lherzolitic shergottite Yamato-793605 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We have undertaken Sm-Nd isotopic studies on Yamato-793605 lherzolitic shergottite. The Sm-Nd internal isochron obtained for acid leachates and residues of whole-rock and separated mineral fractions yields an age of 185±16Ma with an initial εNd value of +

Radium Speciation in Simulated Digestive Biofluids: Insights from Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry and Thermodynamic Modeling

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, EarlyView.
Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI‐MS) combined with thermodynamic modeling provides the first direct characterization of radium speciation in synthetic gastrointestinal biofluids. Free Ra2+ ions predominate with minimal protein binding and negligible EDTA complexation. Crown ethers enable effective Ra complexation.

Concordant ages for the giant Kipushi base metal deposit (DR Congo) from direct Rb-Sr and Re-Os dating of sulfides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We report concordant ages of 451.1 ± 6.0 and 450.5 ± 3.4Ma from direct Rb-Sr and Re-Os isochron dating, respectively, of ore-stage Zn-Cu-Ge sulfides, including sphalerite for the giant carbonate-hosted Kipushi base metal (+Ge) deposit in the ...

Thermal Conductance and Mass Transport of Brinkman‐Type Nanofluids Across Porous Plates: A Prabhakar‐Fractional Approach

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The paper establishes an advanced computing algorithm to investigate the thermosolutal dynamics of an electrically conductive Brinkman‐type nanofluid that moves in a porous channel, and the fluid is acted on by an inclined magnetic field exerted externally.

Trace elements in some Finnish pegmatitic potassium feldspars [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 1968
Thirty eight potassium feldspar samples from pegmatites were analyzed for K, Na, Ca, Fe, Rb, Sr, Cs, Ba and Pb. The X-ray fluorescence method used and the distribution of the trace elements are described and discussed.
