Automated Damage Index Estimation of Reinforced Concrete Columns for Post-Earthquake Evaluations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In emergency scenarios, immediate reconnaissance efforts are necessary. These efforts often take months to complete in full. While underway, building occupants are unable to return to their homes/businesses, and thus, the impact on the society of the ...

Formation Control of Multi‐Agent System with Local Interaction and Artificial Potential Field

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article proposes a local interaction‐based formation control method for Multi‐Agent system, integrating consensus and leader‐follower strategies with a stress response mechanism—artificial potential field to reduce communication overhead and enable obstacle avoidance. Experimental results on triangular, square, and hexagonal formations confirm its

A parametric study on a RC frame based on “PUSHOVER” analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Three commercial software packages (SAP 2000, SeismoStruck and MIDAS/CIVIL) universally used in the design of civil engineering structures, are applied on a parametric study of pushover analyses of a RC frame of an office building under a few ...

Floor response spectra in RC frame structures designed according to Eurocode 8 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
© 2015 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht Nonstructural components (NSCs) should be subjected to a careful and rational seismic design, in order to reduce the economic loss and to avoid threats to the life safety, as well as what concerns ...

Endocytic Control of Cell‐Autonomous and Non‐Cell‐Autonomous Functions of p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NUMB Ex3‐containing isoforms localize to the plasma membrane, where they recruit p53 through SNX9 and direct it to multivesicular bodies and exosomes. Exported p53 is taken up by neighboring cells and activates nuclear programs, revealing an intercellular, exosome‐based pathway that might help establish a tumor‐suppressive microenvironment.

Numerical analysis of reinforced concrete frame buildings with decoupled infill walls [PDF]

open access: yesGrađevinski Materijali i Konstrukcije, 2020
Reinforced concrete (RC) buildings with masonry infill walls are widely used in many countries all over the world. Although infills are considered as non-structural elements, they significantly change dynamic characteristics of RC frame structures during

Evaluation of Shear Wall-RC Frame Interaction of High-Rise Buildings using 2-D model Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The usefulness of structural walls in the framing of buildings has long been recognized. It is generally preferred to use shear wall in combination with moment resisting frame. In the present study, an effort is also made to investigate the shear wall-RC

Twistor spinors with zero on Lorentzian 5-space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We present in this paper a $C^1$-metric on an open neighbourhood of the origin in $\RR^{5}$. The metric is of Lorentzian signature $(1,4)$ and admits a solution to the twistor equation for spinors with a unique isolated zero at the origin.

On the Origins of Toughness in Corymbia calophylla (Marri Tree) Nuts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We uncover the natural toughening mechanisms of the marri nut, including fiber pullout, crack deflection, and a viscoelastic matrix, which enable exceptional energy absorption and ductility comparable to Teflon, with an elastic modulus similar to acrylic.
