Quantifying Strain and Its Effect on Charge Transport in Ge/Si Core/Shell Nanowires
This work demonstrates strain engineering in Ge/Si core–shell nanowires (CS NWs) by tuning the Ge core‐Si shell dimensions. Polarization‐resolved µ‐Raman and geometrical phase analysis quantify the resulting strain. Electronic transport measurements demonstrate record hole mobilities up to 25 400 cm2/Vs, highlighting these Ge/Si CS NWs as a promising ...

Seismic performance of masonry-infilled RC frames [PDF]
The masonry infill of RC frames structures is generally considered as non-structural. The design of the concrete frames is often made by ignoring the influence of the masonry infill, which is only accounted for its mass.

Damage and Seismic Performance Assessment of FRP-Retrofitted Multi-Storey RC Buildings
Structures should be designed for a long in-service life at the lowest cost. Performance based design (PBD) can be used for damage and performance assessment of older FRP-retrofitted multi-storey RC moment resisting frames (MRFs).

Comparative analysis of RC irregular buildings designed according to different seismic design codes [PDF]
The present paper presents a comparison of the seismic provisions of the three seismic design codes, namely the Philippine code (National Structural Code of the Philippines or NSCP2010), the European code (Eurocode 8 or EC8), and American code (2009 ...

Energy Saving and Carbon Reduction in the Operation Stage of Cross Laminated Timber Residential Buildings in China [PDF]
This paper focused on energy consumption and carbon emission for heating and cooling during a building’s operation stage, and examined the energy effects of using Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) as an alternative building material to reinforced concrete ...

Effect of introducing RC infill on seismic performance of damaged RC frames
The main objective of this study was to investigate the seismic behavior of damaged reinforced concrete frames rehabilitated by introducing cast in place reinforced concrete infills. Four bare and five infilled frames were constructed and tested. Each specimen consisted of two (twin) 1/3-scale, one-bay and two-story reinforced concrete frames.

Multi‐scale Optimization on Interfacial Evaporative Cooling for Photovoltaic Performance Enhancement
This study presents a passive siphon‐driven interfacial evaporative cooling technology for photovoltaics. A multiscale multiphysics model is developed and validated experimentally. Results show that optimizing installation parameters reduces operating temperature by up to 22.3 °C and boosts power efficiency by 8.9%, offering a practical pathway for ...

SEISMIC PERFORMANCE OF RC FRAME RETROFITTED BY CES PORTAL FRAME
This research deals with a seismic retrofitting technique of installing CES portal frames to an existing RC frame building. One of characteristics in the retrofitting technique is to employ the precast construction method that precast CES members are connected at the middle of the beam and columns of the portal frame.

Seismic behavior of irregular RC-frames damaged by corrosion [PDF]
Reinforced Concrete (RC) structures frequently are deteriorated by corrosion attack where pitting morphology is the worst form of degradation. Appropriate vulnerability analyses, accounting for the variation of mechanical properties of material during the time, give an assessment of the residual service life of corroded structures.
