Models for RC Frames with Degrading Stiffness

Journal of the Structural Division, 1977
Analytical models for representing the hysteretic behavior of reinforced concrete members are reviewed. Based on results of exterior connection tests, two degrading trilinear models are suggested, one of which considers the effect of the connection.

RC Frame Connections Rehabilitated by Jacketing

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1993
The behavior of frame connections repaired and/or strengthened by jacketing was assessed experimentally. Four slab‐beam‐column joints were constructed and rehabilitated. The specimens were tested under bidirectional cyclic loading that simulated earthquake‐type motions.

Seismic Assessment of RC Frame Buildings

2016
In the chapter, the N2 method and the non-linear dynamic analysis (NDA) are applied for the assessment of seismic performance of two variants of a 4-storey reinforced concrete (RC) frame building. The first variant is represented by the bare frames, whereas in the second variant infill panels are included in the upper three storeys, thus creating a ...

Response of RC Frames Strengthened by RC Infill Walls: Experimental Study

Journal of Structural Engineering, 2019
AbstractThe experimental results of a research program on the response of 1/3-scale reinforced concrete infilled frames are presented and evaluated.

An experimental study on strengthening of vulnerable RC frames with RC wing walls

Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 2012
One of the most popular and commonly used strengthening techniques to protect against earthquakes is to infill the holes in reinforced concrete (RC) frames with fully reinforced concrete infills. In some cases, windows and door openings are left inside infill walls for architectural or functional reasons during the strengthening of reinforced concrete ...

Finite Element Analysis of RC Frames

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1984
A method based on finite element technique is presented for the analysis of reinforced concrete plane frames subjected to proportional vertical and lateral loading. The method considers nonlinear behavior of reinforced concrete plane frames arising out of material nonlinearity and large displacements. The method has several special features.

A Comparative Study on the Strengthening of RC Frames

2003
In order to improve the behavior of buildings and in order to prevent total collapse, necessary amount of strengthening must be provided. The frame of the test specimen (1/3 scaled, 2-story, 3-bay) is detailed such that it has the common deficiencies of existing buildings in Turkey. Two types of strengthening techniques, namely introducing an infill RC

RC-frames infilled with rc infill-walls for seismic retrofitting

2021
The seismic retrofitting of existing multi-storey multi-bay reinforced concrete (RC) frame buildings by the conversion of selected bays into new RC infilled walls is the subject of this research work. The parametric study of the contribution of dowels that connect a new RC infill wall to the surrounding RC frame members was performed through nonlinear ...

RETROFIT OF MASONRY INFILLS: LOCAL INTERACTION WITH RC FRAMES

2020
The achievement of code-based performance criteria in existing reinforced concrete buildings is often gained through different retrofit techniques aimed at improving the seismic behavior of both structural members and non-structural elements, such as infill walls. Focusing on masonry infill walls, state-of-art strengthening techniques are often adopted
