Nonlinear sigma model of a spin ladder containing a static single hole

open access: yes, 2007
In this letter we extend the nonlinear sigma model describing pure spin ladders with an arbitrary number of legs to the case of ladders containing a single static hole.

Renormalization group approach to symmetry protected topological phases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A defining feature of a symmetry protected topological phase (SPT) in one-dimension is the degeneracy of the Schmidt values for any given bipartition.

Rethinking Child Activism: Civil Society Organisations' Practices, Challenges, and Transformative Approaches

open access: yesChildren &Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper critically examines how civil society organisations (CSOs), particularly development and humanitarian non‐governmental organisations (NGOs), shape children's and young people's activism as represented in the scholarly literature. Drawing on a transdisciplinary literature review informed by reflexive professional insights, the paper ...

Multi-channel scattering and Feshbach resonances: Effective theory, phenomenology, and many-body effects

open access: yes, 2005
A low energy effective theory based on a microscopic multi-channel description of the atom-atom interaction is derived for the scattering of alkali atoms in different hyperfine states.

Chiral symmetry breaking in gauged ${\bf NJL}$ model in curved spacetime [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Using the renormalization group (RG) approach and the equivalency between the class of gauge-Higgs-Yukawa models and the gauged Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model, we study the gauged NJL model in curved space-time.

A fractal pattern of hierarchical genetic population structure in mixed stocks across fish segregated by dams revealed by genomic resources for curimba Prochilodus lineatus

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Genomic resources, new microsatellite markers and a novel observation of a fractal pattern in the genetic population structure are presented for curimba, Prochilodus lineatus, a freshwater migratory model species of South America. Our main goals were to investigate the presence of mixed fish stocks and the effects of damming‐induced ...

Influence of Periodic Surface Nanopatterning Profiles on Series Resistance in Thin-Film Crystalline Silicon Heterojunction Solar Cells

open access: yes, 2015
In the frame of the development of thin crystalline silicon solar cell technologies, surface nanopatterning of silicon is gaining importance. Its impact on the material quality is, however, not yet fully controlled. We investigate here the influence of ...

Role of S1P‐ and Rho‐kinase signalling in age‐related myogenic tone deficiency in murine resistance arteries

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Ageing is a risk factor for cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. The myogenic response in resistance arteries is responsible for basal (myogenic) tone and blood flow autoregulation. G‐protein‐coupled receptors and G12/RhoA/Rho kinase are implicated in myogenic tone (MT), and we aimed to clarify their role in pressure sensing and ...

CDC42‐Effector Proteins Regulate Higher Order Structure of Septins Required for CNS Myelin Integrity

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 3, March 2026.
CDC42‐effector proteins 1/2 are present in CNS myelin. They facilitate the higher order structure of myelin septin filaments. Their loss impairs septin‐dependent scaffolding of myelin. Myelin outfoldings do not cause secondary neuropathology per se. ABSTRACT The regular structure of CNS myelin requires specialized structural proteins, including septin ...

Economical RC active lossy ladder filters

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1973
The letter describes a class of RC active filters derived from RLC lossy ladder-filter prototypes. The presence of loss in the prototypes allows the use of active building blocks containing only one amplifier. Design methods are outlined, and ways of reducing sensitivity are discussed.
