Future Extreme Climatic Events May Reshape Butterfly Distributions Across Biomes in Italy

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, Volume 53, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Extreme climatic events (ECEs) are increasingly recognized as major drivers of insect declines, yet remain rarely incorporated into biodiversity projections. Butterflies may be especially sensitive to prolonged ECEs because they are short‐lived ectotherms, while voltinism can influence their capacity to absorb climatic shocks.

Climate Change, Demand Uncertainty, and Firms' Investments: Evidence from Planned Power Plants

open access: yesThe Journal of Finance, Volume 81, Issue 5, Page 2985-3034, October 2026.
ABSTRACT How does demand uncertainty affect firms' investment decisions? We examine this question in the context of electricity‐producing firms' planned investments in new power plants. We measure uncertainty about future electricity demand using plausibly exogenous variation in temperature projections across scientific climate models. The results show

Solving Stochastic Climate‐Economy Models: A Deep Least‐Squares Monte Carlo Approach

open access: yesMathematical Finance, Volume 36, Issue 4, Page 751-770, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Stochastic versions of recursive integrated climate‐economy assessment models are essential for studying and quantifying policy decisions under uncertainty. However, as the number of state variables and stochastic shocks increases, solving these models via deterministic grid‐based dynamic programming (e.g., value‐function iteration/projection ...

Resistance Training for Cyclists: Scientific Evidence and Practical Recommendations

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Medicine &Science in Sports, Volume 36, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Growing evidence supports strength or resistance training (RT) as an effective method for enhancing cycling performance, but many cyclists remain reluctant to incorporate it due to perceived detrimental effects, such as excessive residual fatigue and unwanted hypertrophy.
