Evidence of Skyrmion excitations about $\nu =1$ in n-Modulation Doped Single Quantum Wells by Inter-band Optical Transmission

open access: yes, 1995
We observe a dramatic reduction in the degree of spin-polarization of a two-dimensional electron gas in a magnetic field when the Fermi energy moves off the mid-point of the spin-gap of the lowest Landau level, $\nu=1$. This rapid decay of spin alignment

Tunable Multifunctional Terahertz Coding Metasurface for Polarization Manipulation

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Coding metasurfaces (CMs) offer versatile control over electromagnetic waves. Herein, a tunable multifunctional terahertz (THz) metasurface integrated with vanadium dioxide (VO2) is presented, enabling propagation‐phase manipulation of linearly polarized waves and hybrid‐phase control of circularly polarized waves.

Terahertz Chiral Recognition Based on Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
A novel terahertz chiral sensing method based on a multilayer metallic metasurface is proposed. The left‐handed circularly polarized and right‐handed circularly polarized components in the linearly polarized illuminating light into two focal points and convert them back into linear polarization for convenient measurement.

Non-degenerate valleys in the half-metallic ferromagnet Fe/WS$_2$

open access: yes, 2017
We present a first principles investigation of the electronic properties of monolayer WS$_2$ coated with an overlayer of Fe. Our ab initio calculations reveal that the system is a half-metallic ferromagnet with a gap of $\sim 1$ eV for the majority spin ...

Nanophotonic Strategies for Chiral Biosensing: Nanoparticles, Metasurfaces, Magneto‐Optical, and Quantum Approaches

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Recent advances in nanophotonics‐based chiral biosensing approaches are comprehensively reviewed, highlighting key trends, advantages, and limitations of each technology. Special attention is given to emerging strategies that exploit magneto‐optical and quantum plasmonic phenomena to enhance sensitivity down to the level of a few molecules, or even a ...

Restricted Conformal Property of Compressive Sensing

open access: yes, 2014
Energy and direction are tow basic properties of a vector. A discrete signal is a vector in nature. RIP of compressive sensing can not show the direction information of a signal but show the energy information of a signal.

Numerical Modeling of Photothermal Self‐Excited Composite Oscillators

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
We present a numerical framework for simulating photothermal self‐excited oscillations. The driving mechanism is elucidated by highlighting the roles of inertia and overshoot, as well as the phase lag between the thermal moment and the oscillation angle, which together construct the feedback loop between the system state and the environmental stimulus.

Vortices with scalar condensates in two-component Ginzburg–Landau systems

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2016
In a class of two-component Ginzburg–Landau models (TCGL) with a U(1)×U(1) symmetric potential, vortices with a condensate at their core may have significantly lower energies than the Abrikosov–Nielsen–Olesen (ANO) ones. On the example of liquid metallic

Multispacecraft observations of the terrestrial bow shock and magnetopause during extreme solar wind disturbances [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2012
Three events are discussed from the declining phase of the last solar cycle when the magnetopause and/or the bow shock were observed unusually close to the Earth due to major interplanetary disturbances.
