Querying RDF Data Cubes through Natural Language

open access: closed, 2018
In this discussion paper we present QA3, a question answering (QA) system over RDF cubes. The system first tags chunks of text with elements of the knowledge base (KB), and then leverages the well-defined structure of data cubes to create the SPARQL query from the tags.

Language-model-based ranking for queries on RDF-graphs

Proceedings of the 18th ACM conference on Information and knowledge management, 2009
The success of knowledge-sharing communities like Wikipedia and the advances in automatic information extraction from textual and Web sources have made it possible to build large "knowledge repositories" such as DBpedia, Freebase, and YAGO. These collections can be viewed as graphs of entities and relationships (ER graphs) and can be represented as a ...

A Comparison of RDF Query Languages

2004
The purpose of this paper is to provide a rigorous comparison of six query languages for RDF. We outline and categorize features that any RDF query language should provide and compare the individual languages along these features. We describe several practical usage examples for RDF queries and conclude with a comparison of the expressiveness of the ...

RDF-GL: A SPARQL-Based Graphical Query Language for RDF

2010
This chapter presents RDF-GL, a graphical query language (GQL) for RDF. The GQL is based on the textual query language SPARQL and mainly focuses on SPARQL SELECT queries. The advantage of a GQL over textual query languages is that complexity is hidden through the use of graphical symbols.

RQL: A Functional Query Language for RDF

2004
Although real-scale Semantic Web applications, such as Knowledge Portals and E-Marketplaces, require the management of voluminous resource metadata, sufficiently expressive declarative languages for metadata created according to the W3C RDF/S standard1 are still missing.

A Dataflow Graph Transformation Language and Query Rewriting System for RDF Ontologies

2012
Users interested in biological and biomedical information sets on the semantic web are frequently not computer scientists. These researchers often find it difficult to use declarative query and view definition languages to manipulate these RDF data sets. We define a language IML consisting of a small number of graph transformations that can be composed

Trial for RDF: adapting graph query languages for RDF data

2013
Querying RDF data is viewed as one of the main applications of graph query languages, and yet the standard model of graph databases -- essentially labeled graphs -- is different from the triples-based model of RDF. While encodings of RDF databases into graph data exist, we show that even the most natural ones are bound to lose some functionality when ...

A Natural Language Interface for Querying RDF and Graph Databases

2015
In this paper we present a modular system, namedMANTRA QA, that allows users to query different kind of knowledge bases through natural language expressions transformed to different formal language query (e.g. SPARQL, Cypher Query Language). We take advantage of our logic-based language, namedMANTRA Language, that enables to define grammarbased ...
