On the direction of the re-entrant jet and the limiting cavity flow configurations

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2022
In this paper, we investigate an old classical free streamline problem, namely, the two-dimensional re-entrant jet cavity flow past an obstacle. It is well known that for the re-entrant jet model, the direction of the jet is a free parameter that can be specified arbitrarily.

Re-Entrant Jet Analysis of Cavitating Turbulent Flow on a Hydrofoil

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
The paper presents the re-entrant jet analysis of cavitating turbulent flow on a hydrofoil. Analysis was performed by OpenFOAM code. A mixture assumption and a finite rate mass transfer model were introduced. The finite volume method is used to solve the governing equations of the mixture model and the pressure-velocity coupling is handled via a ...

Dynamic Behaviors of Re-Entrant Jet and Cavity Shedding During Transitional Cavity Oscillation on NACA0015 Hydrofoil

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2018
Transitional cavity shedding is known as the stage of attached cavitation with high instability and distinct periodicity. In this study, we experimentally investigated the dynamic characteristics of transitional cavity (0.8≤L/c<1) shedding on NACA0015 hydrofoil with high-speed video observation and synchronous pressure measurement.

Unsupervised learning for identifying cavitation stages dominated by re-entrant jets and condensation fronts

Physics of Fluids
Understanding and identifying detachment mechanisms of unsteady partial cavitation, successively governed by re-entrant jets and condensation fronts (also referred to as bubbly shocks or condensation shocks), is essential for effective control and utilization of cavitating flows. In this study, a machine learning-based framework is proposed to identify
