External Intermittency Simulation in Turbulent Round Jets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
to study passive scalar mixing and intermittency in turbulent round jets. Both simulation techniques are applied to the case of a low Reynolds number jet with Re between time-averaged results for the scalar field of the low Re case demonstrate reasonable

Second‐Harmonic Hyper‐Mie Optical Activity Enables Closed‐Loop Chiral Photochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Nonlinear chiral photochemistry is demonstrated in CdTe/CdO nanohelices, where circularly polarized infrared light both drives and tracks photo‐oxidation via second‐harmonic scattering. This closed‐loop process reveals real‐time structural evolution, including shell fracturing and core exposure, accompanied by a transition from hyper‐Mie to hyper ...

Thermal Radiation Emission From 3D Graphene Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Three‐dimensional graphene networks are demonstrated as exceptional broadband thermal emitters, exhibiting high‐intensity, spectrally homogeneous emission and strong mechanical flexibility compared to conventional emitters like silicon carbide.

Spin‐On SiOx‐Assisted Inkjet Printing for Interdigitated n+ and p+ Poly‐Si/SiOx Contacts in Silicon Solar Cells With Suppressed Unintended Doping

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work presents an innovative spin‐on SiOx‐assisted inkjet‐printed approach to form localized n+ and p+ poly‐Si/SiOx passivating contacts for high‐efficiency silicon solar cells within a single‐annealing step. The developed process results in a well‐defined interdigitated doping pattern, with unintended doping and cross‐doping concentrations ...

Bidirectional Process Prediction in the Laser‐Induced‐Graphene Production Using Blackbox Deep Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study shows that a lightweight blackbox neural network provides a practical, cost‐effective solution for bidirectional process prediction in laser‐induced graphene (LIG) fabrication. Achieving high predictive performance with minimal overhead, the approach democratizes machine learning (ML) for resource‐limited environments.

Measurement of the flavour composition of dijet events in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper describes a measurement of the flavour composition of dijet events produced in pp collisions at s√=7 TeV using the ATLAS detector. The measurement uses the full 2010 data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 39 pb−1.

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

The effect of nozzle inclination on heat transfer in jet impingement systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
Jet impingement heating and cooling techniques are used extensively in industrial applications. in some of these installations, the axis of the jet can be inclined relative to the impingement surface.
