Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A heuristic for variable re-entrant scheduling problems [PDF]
Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMSs) need a scheduler to provide timing instructions for the operations of different products. Previous work has presented heuristics for fixed-order 2-re-entrant scheduling problems; where products visit a re-entrant ...

Mechanical Properties of Re-Entrant Hybrid Honeycomb Structures for Morphing Wings
The exceptional energy absorption, deformability, and tuneable Poisson’s ratio properties of negative Poisson’s ratio (NPR) honeycomb biomimetic structures make them highly suitable for applications in aerospace, medical, and acoustic stealth industries.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Re-entrant ferromagnet PrMn2Ge0.8Si1.2: Magnetocaloric effect
The structural and magnetic properties of the re-entrant ferromagnet PrMn2Ge0.8Si1.2 have been investigated by various experimental methods. Similar to the canonical re-entrant ferromagnet SmMn2Ge2, multiple magnetic phase transitions have been detected ...

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
