Effects of Transport on Reactions in Homogeneous Tubular Flow
Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2006Numerical solutions have been carried out for representative conditions in a tubular reactor in fully developed laminar and turbulent flow. The computations are unique in two respects. First, they take into account the radial transport of both species and energy by molecular and turbulent fluctuations for the combination of energetic reactions and heat

Effects of the shear flow on a homogeneous polymeric reaction
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2006AbstractThe reaction kinetics of the postamidation of polyamide 6 in the melt was studied by a new rheological method, and the reaction rate constant was calculated to be about 0.087 kg/mol min at 250°C. To study the effects of the shear flow on a homogeneous polymeric reaction, a more practical technique was used to select the data that responded only

Flow effects on the kinetics of a second-order reaction
Chemical Engineering Journal, 2008Flow effects on the kinetics of an isothermal, equimolar, second-order reaction taking place in a channel were investigated using a Lagrangian numerical method. The reactants were released instantaneously from the two opposite walls of the channel into fully developed turbulent or laminar flow.

The Effect of Reaction on Axial Flow Compressor Performance
Volume 1: Turbomachinery, 1994This paper describes a study of the effects of design-point reaction on axial flow compressor performance. Particular attention is given to differences in stable operating range and overall efficiency. Design of an 80% reaction, zero pre-whirl, blading is presented together with a discussion on the applicability of currently available design ...

The effect of oscillatory flow on the release reaction and aggregation of human platelets
Microvascular Research, 1976Abstract The effect of variable shear rate on the thrombin-induced release of [ 14 C]serotonin from human platelets was investigated by subjecting washed suspensions containing 5 × 10 5 cells/μl to laminar oscillatory flow at 37°C in 1-meter lengths of 1.57-mm polyethylene tubing.

Macroscopic effects of reaction time on traffic flow characteristics
Physica Scripta, 2009Reaction time is defined as a physiological parameter reflecting the period of time between perceiving a stimulus and performing a relevant action. In the traffic flow theory literature, the effects of reaction time on string stability have been described using the microscopic modeling approach.

Turbulence effects on chemical reactions in smog chamber flows
Atmospheric Environment (1967), 1987Abstract Turbulent mixing effects on the reaction rate of a non-premixed flow are presented for a moderately slow second-order irreversible chemical reaction. The turbulent mixing process leads to inhomogeneities in the concentration of the reactants.

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2015
Low-cost microfluidic devices are desirable for many chemical processes; however, access to robust, inert, and appropriately structured materials for the inner channel wall is severely limited. Here, the shear force within confined microchannels was tuned through control of reactant solution fluid-flow and shown to dramatically impact nano- through ...

Bistability in inhomogeneity—Effects of flow coherent structures on the fate of a bistable reaction
Physics of Fluids, 2015We present a numerical study on the mixing process between two stable states of a chemical reaction model. The two stable states of the reactions are found in practice not to coexist, and a single stable state of homogeneous scalar concentration is achieved over long time.
